Turned away at the Border?
I just heard a story the other day about being turned away at the border a few years back for having glowsticks and bracelets in the car. I also read something to that effect on a message board (can't remember if it was somewhere on this one). Has anyone heard of/had experience with something like this before? It's got me a little worried about trying to bring stuff like that over.

i've never ever had that happen to me or anyone i know. we've gotten questioned more thoroughly because of having that sort of thing in the car, but we have never gotten turned away because of it.

I agree with her ^^^^, I have gone across the border in kandi, though I don't suggest it.
Put it in a bag or suitcase and don't carry anything across the border you are not supposed to and you will be fine.

Very true...if you're either driving to or from Canada...HIDE THE KANDI and rave attire! LOL!! Coming back to Toronto from Buffalo our car got throughly searched for drugs and what not. It was scary, but of course we didn't have anything on or with us.
Although flying to Toronto...I did have kandi on. Customs agents asked about it...I just said a party. They were all chill and told me to have a good time...and let me on by. |

i always just pack my candy hidden very well in my clothes. cuz chances are if they do anything they'll just open up your stuff and look only so deep if nothing looks suspicious. as long as you don't have anything illegal, your candy shouldn't present a problem. they did however find our candy and use it as basis to search further for drugs we supposably must have had hidden. but evntually they let us go.

I've been turned away (like 5 years ago now) for having a pacifier in the car. If you're bringing just bracelets/glowsticks thats usually ok, but no rolling papers, pipes, pacifiers, anything that can be considered drug related. I'd keep everything packed in the trunk/bags though, and wear normal clothes through customs. If you have crazy colored hair, a hat can help as well!

For AGT, Brad and I died our hair blue in the hotel room by lining the shower with a shower curtain we brought up. Then we died it back to brown before we left. I wasn't taking any chances getting turned away, haha.

I have been asked extensively about my kandi when our car got searched once, but they just asked the same questions any stranger asks me about kandi.

Last time we drove over the border, they stopped us to be searched and they found all of my kandi and makeup and glowsticks and such, and they didn't ask if I was going to rave, or ask about drugs... They thought that I was coming over the border to fly to CUBA and give these things to the children there.

lock all your shit in your trunk.
dressing preppy looks good on your part as well. One time I showed em my Military ID (i got out in october) and the guy at the border asked to see my leave chit... which said nothing about canada on it, but he didnt ask any more questions. Normally going into Canada isnt the problem, but comming back can be, however it also depends on which way you cross the border too. I know on my way to WEMF last year they didnt ask us anything and just waved us by but that was going through 1000 Islands. Just be smart and pack well |

for whatever reason i have been harassed several times about what i do for a living.... i've always drove expensive cars and i usually am dressed very well... i'm a label whore! the custom agents always ask me about my job and how i afford the car.... like they can't believe it....
it is sort of weird... happened 4 times now!? lol but other than that... i've never had any issues also... one time they looked in my luggage and the first bag they opened was all my underwear and some sex toys and lube and porn n shit... haha it was SO funny... they went NO further after seeing the label on the porno... it was called " Northern Exposure" and had a few hot candaian boys on the cover haha obiviously gay porn .... super hilarious Last edited by kylefabulous : June 4th, 2007 at 01:12 AM. |

^^^I don't drive an expensive car, and they've asked me the same things!
I think border guards think that if you're "young" you should just be driving a beat-up used car or something.. Once, they hassled my boyfriend when we walked across on my b-day asking for paystubs to prove he wasn't working in the US because he's here so often. They can be very strange when they want to be! |

I had the same problem after NYE. They searched my car because I was driving a really nice rental. Four people asked the same questions about who rented it, when I had to return it, ect. They searched the hell out of it, but didn't say anything about my bookbag full of kandi.
Getting into Canada has never been a problem. The first time I went, the guy at the border didn't even take our IDs. He looked like he really despises his job, lol |
