N.M. Police Ate Pot Burgers
Lawsuit: N.M. Police Ate Pot Burgers
The Associated Press Tuesday, November 7, 2006; 12:36 AM ALBUQUERQUE -- Two police officers have sued Burger King Corp., claiming they were served hamburgers that had been sprinkled with marijuana. The lawsuit says Mark Landavazo and Henry Gabaldon, officers for the Isleta Pueblo tribal police, were in uniform and riding in a marked patrol car when they bought meals at the drive-through lane Oct. 8 of a Burger King restaurant in Los Lunas, N.M. The officers ate about half of their burgers before discovering marijuana on the meat, the lawsuit said. They used a field test kit to confirm the substance was pot, then went to a hospital for medical evaluations. "It gives a whole new meaning to the word 'Whopper,'" the officers' attorney, Sam Bregman, said Monday. "The idea that these hoodlums would put marijuana into a hamburger and therefore attempt to impair law enforcement officers trying to do their jobs is outrageous." Three Burger King employees were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and aggravated battery on an officer, a felony. They later were indicted. The lawsuit, filed Friday in Bernalillo County, alleges personal injury, negligence, battery and violation of fair practices. It seeks unspecified damages along with legal costs. Officials at Miami-based Burger King declined to comment, citing a company policy against discussing pending litigation.

Yeah, I heard about this awhile ago. Apparently they DID actually go to the hospital for a recovery, not just to test whether they had THC in them or anything. And ended up getting a fuckin' month of work for that shit or something. LMAO. How fuckin' retarded is that. on the other hand, as stupid as it was...
TWO THUMBS UP TO YOU KYDS!

I'm gonna have to find the article....
just last week here in michigan a police officer was laid off work, after testing positive for marijuana use... he was a long time officer, and swore up and down he did not use drugs... eventually it came light that his wife had been spiking his food with weed, so that he would test positive for drugs, and be forced out of his job... she couldn't stand him doing swat! she admitted to the ordeal and eventually he was able to get his job back... super funny shit |

They should've just hid a tab of acid in the shredded lettuce. That would have been way more potent, hard to detect, and funny. Goofs.

Hard, it'd be almost impossible to detect, that'd be friggin' hilarious. That would REALLY impare them. lol. Yeah, seriously though. They so knew it wasn't gonna do shit to them, they were totally just milking it for all it was worth, especially to get it priced so highly in court.

Yeah, totally. Drugging unsuspecting people is AWESOME, and not at all assault. They should have put heroin in the milkshakes. Man, police officers are universally horrible and not deserving of basic human decency, right you guys?

Chill mate, it's just a funny idea, no one actually did it, or is actually planning on doing it, so it's hella funny
![]() But I agree, if someone actually did that it'd be hella fucked up, doseing people is pretty brutal on the person if they don't know how to deal with it. That's the acid part though. The pot though, that's just funny. |

I'm just so sick of hearing bad-ass, rebel-rebel teens going on about how all police are pigs and "Fuck The Man" and "Yeah Anarchy" and blah blah blah. So boring.

Respecting the basic human rights of people, even people in uniform, isn't conformity. It's just decency.

It was a general statement in response to your general observation on youth resiliency and the functionalist role the police occupy in our society.

Umm... when I mentioned that ACID should have been used instead of pot, I was joking. I thought the idea would be so rediculous that it'd be a good laugh. I didn't expect that people would think I was serious. I didn't mean for this to turn into "are cops good or bad?"
For the record, I've had nothing but good experiences with police in Toronto. At raves, they've been very courteous and respectful. During community saftey meetings, they responded to our concerns with action. They really do focus on community-based policing. There will always be problems that come up because of the nature of the work, but on the whole, we have a terrific police force. |

I would wager 90% of the 'Down with the Establishment'-'Fuck the Police' youth "activists" haven't actually put any thought into their personal politics above memorizing punk lyrics and learning to spell "anarchy", and I'm not even sure about the last point, judging by the many poorly written internet messageboard posts I've seen re: that subject. |

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if "90%" were not the correct number. I just basically invented it on the spot. But I still don't believe that most pseudo-activist young people put any thought into their feelings on the functionalist role of police in society. Nonconformity is meaningless when you don't even know what it is you believe in; when the rebellious phrases are just something that you chant because some musicians put them to a good beat, and they get a rise out of adults. I wouldn't even call those people nonconformist, they're just conformist in a more irritating manner.
So it's not really that conformity is the new nonconformity. It's that a lot of the people that are considered to be nonconformists are just awkward young people who don't even bother to think critically for themselves yet. |
