Think you know your Hulla trivia?
Ok, to give you guys something to do I came up with these questions. Some are easy, some are more difficult but they should all be answerable.
1. Hullabaloo was inspired by what UK raves? 2. How many Hulla flyers featured a real model? 3. How many Hulla flyers featured Robin Frolic? 4. How many Hulla flyers had "Hidden Foos" on them? 5. How many Hulla parties were at the Opera House? 6. List the debut Hulla parties for these DJs: Anabolic Frolic Silver1 D-Minus Frisky Elixir Subsonic Chronic 7. List the debut Hulla parties for these MCs: Everybodies Daddy J.D. Gobstopper Kwik E-by-gum 8. Which early Hulla did Frolic consider his "make or break" party, and had it not been profitable it would have been the last? 9. What DJ gave Frolic a personal thrill to have play Hullabaloo? 10. In the entire history of Hullabaloo Frolic played back2back with 2 DJs, who were they? 11. The night Frolic proposed to Robin, another Hulla DJ proposed to his girlfriend, who was that? 12. D-Minus had the reputation of doing what with the sound system? 13. Who is Athena? 14. What themed Hulla party would Frolic have liked to have done but never did? 15. What was the name of Hulla's 4-year anniversary? |

Ok, I'll answer one of the more difficult ones.
Question 8. Hulla #5 - Meltdown. I had to make money on that or otherwise I would have to answer some hard questions about how long I could keep at it for. The good news is the night was a huge success and the rest as they say is history. There's a lesson in there for all promoters that it's OK to make money. I see all these well-intentioned people throwing parties with no concern about making money or trying to break even, but they never last. I was able to dedicate myself because this was a full-time pursuit and that makes all the difference in the world. And of course there's a big difference between making money and doing it for the money. |

thats the reason we set the limit for Glow 2.0 and arent spending a bunch more on extra lights or decorations. if we do that we won't break even and will still be in debt most likely when the next party comes around.
these are seriously tough though. guess the old timers should have better luck |

Ah... Meltdown at the Masonic Temple. I think that was my second Hulla party. What an incredible event! I loved the trance room in the basement. Really cool venue with the huge 2nd tier that overlooked the DJ...

We were the last ever rave held there.
And here's something that will make newschool promoters groan: That venue held 1800 people in 2 rooms and only cost me $3500. Not only that, but we sold our own water! At $2 a bottle (the best price you'll ever see), the water alone paid a huge chunk of the rental. When the news that Sy & Unknown were safely inside the country I couldn't help but skip around that day since I knew all thngs had come together for an incredible event. |

the most i ever saw water for was 6 dollars.. inside a dank ass warehouse party... the promoters shut the sinks off, so noone could refill... and the fucking water was warm!!!!

especially considering we could buy water for like...a dollar a bottle. but hey the bar sells it for $2 so theres really no competition. and its good to let them have the money |

DJ Slipmatt was the biggest influence on me and he was the biggest deal to have play for me. He's not so much a factor anymore but in the mid 90's Slipmatt was the unquestioned godfather of happy hardcore.
15 was a trick question. We didn't have a 4 year anniversary party due to lack of venue. |

there were more than 4 hullas at the opera house, because at least power of dreams in 2003 through finalbaloo in 2005 were held there, which makes for at least 13 if i can count correctly...(february, april, july, september, december for 2003 and 2004, feb, april, july of 2005)
i'm going to guess that there were 16 held at the opera house

Yup, Skelter and also Dreamscape. Both of them at the time featured hardcore and jungle together in the same room as well. Silver1 proposed to his wife an hour before mine. "Hulla-ween" would have been fun . |

" How many Hulla flyers featured a real model?"
I'm gonna say none... Although the girls @ Accelrator and Lost In Space flier were hot... Hmm, well maybe the one featured at the Lost In Space flier was a model... |

ha, well, "real" as in a real human being .
Although none were "real" models. Lots of the early years were shot on disposable cameras even. |

^^ I've actually got the note!!
It's posted on my wall above my decks I can only laugh at it everytime I look. Seriously, sound guy's worst nightmare. I remember the time he came 1 step away from crying at one of the Opera House parties because his monitor wasn't working. It was 5-6am or something, and the only thing that seemed to cheer him up was the smuggled beer that was luke warm in a water bottle
