Either way its not humanily possible to die that way. |

What? Its not possible to die from caffeine or from 399 cans of mello yello?? Only for the pure fact that its too much to drink at once? (well obviously)

It's possible to die by caffiene. You can die from anything if have enough of it. Go look up the LD50's of different things.

That's not quite the same. Pretty much anything you can ingest/inhale/absorb has a lethal dose to it. For water it's over 99999 mg/kg, so it's not very likely to be able to do any harm that way. You'll be more likely to have an internal organ fail long before. |

Hyponatremia is a condition known as "water intoxication." It is the opposite of dehydration, and is often associated with long distance events like running and cycling. Moreover, it’s not an unusual problem, and you can develop it in a few hours.
As you consume large amounts of water over the course of a day, blood plasma (the liquid part of blood) increases thereby diluting the salt content of the blood. At the same time, your body also loses salt by sweating. Consequently, the amount of electrolytes available to your body tissues decreases over time to a point where that loss interferes with brain, heart, and muscle function! You have to replace these electrolytes! They're essential to the normal electro-chemical operation of your nervous system. So.. organ failure is not necessarily going to take over before water "over-hydtration" occurs. |

I stand corrected then. But using 100 000mg/kg as an LD50, then that's only 0.1L/kg of water, which doesn't seem like that much, but I guess you have to take into account losses and the like.
