no smoking please!!!
usually you see a few people smoking anyways and that doesn't bother me. but enchanted was out of hand! i'd never seen so many people smoking at a hulla before. it seemed everyone there had a cigarette in their hand, and the air was soooo smokey. everywhere i walked i had to protect my skirt from people carelessly flailing cigarettes around.
so please people, could we try and keep the smoking to a minimum? i know that you might need a cigarette at some point, it's a long night, but can we not chain smoke all night? or maybe split one with a friend? i'm not trying to be a bitch, but some people (myself included) have difficulty dancing when the airs a cloud of smoke. and i don't want to have another asthma attack and have the medics save me again. that definitly sucked lol thanks!

I'm with you on this lol. I don't smoke obviously, and it dosn't really bother me, but i mean i've been to concertes and stuff before where you couldn't see the other side of the room and after an hour my eyes were tearing up and i couldn't keep them open cause it hurt so much... i don't really know if hulla is that bad or not cause i never been to hulla (or a party) but... yea I'm done lol.

There was an area for smoking??? In London (where I am) you can't smoke in any bar, club, restraunt or any other public indoor place. i thought toronto was the same... i am probably wrong though. As for the smoking It also bothers my asthma

I tried that once, and some kid thought I had Vicks in it and asked if he could borrow it. I told him he was a fuckwad, and he said something about me stomping on his PLUR.
This was at a jungle night at a club, by the way.

Because smoking is still allowed in Toronto for bars, the Opera House allows smoking in their balcony. People pretty much smoke everywhere and it's a difficult thing to enforce though. The laws in Toronto are changing soon though and won't be allowing smoking anywhere inside, and when that day comes then it will be a completely smoke free night, until then prepare to wash your clothes afterwards .

having so many lung and heart problems in the last 1/4 of 2003 i was pretty much forced to only attend hulla for a minimum amount of time until I literally started to gasp for any sort of breath at all, this includes concerts, and any other venue that allows smoking. Honestly, I'm not paying for you to kill me even faster, grow up and kill yourself in your own space where others who have medical problems WON'T be affected. ( and anyone else who just doesn't appretiate coming home STINKING of your coffin nails )

Yay I hear ya! *gasp* *gasp* that really adds to my night. As for the washing of clothes.... Considering the sweat, water and rave goo, that gets saturated into your clothes when you go to a rave mine normaly go right off of my body and directly into the washing machine! and then right back into the washing machine for a second time when there done

the worst part is when you get burned by a cigarette while you're just dancing there, minding your own business...and the person who burned you doesn't care cause they're too busy adjusting their stupid trucker hat to notice you writhing in pain...trucker hats should also be outlawed

How hard would it be to enforce a no smoking policy?

^^^ Impossible. But you may be able to sucessfully confine it to one area.

im surprised by the amount of you who dont smoke and who have spoken up on this thread. i also dont smoke, but i figured it would be a sore topic because so many ravers DO smoke. in my opinion its unreasonable to ask people not to smoke at a rave. yes, i get bothered by it as well... but anytime you place people in a building and combine it with alcohol and a clublike atmosphere, people are going to smoke. besides, every person i know who smokes can't wait 8+ hours or more to have their next cigarette. espically when they're drinking/etc...
im not supporting smoking... im just trying to be realistic. |

I mean not that this is going to happen or anything, but as frolic said if the laws change and prohibit smoking inside at all then some places might build an outdoor patio or something since so many people who go smoke, they wouldn't want to loose a big chunk of thier business... I'm kinda just talking for the hell of it.

Congrats! Since we have had a NO SMOKING law here in london there has been no signifigant drop in ppl at restraunts, bars, clubs.... Alot of places do have a patio but in the winter it isn't open so smokers just have to suffer. Not to many ppl just plain and simple wouldn't go out anymore just because they can't smoke. And if your that addicted, then I feel sorry for you. :/ So anyways Toronto shouldn't have a problem keeping their business up at their establishments.
Cheers |
