Water Allowed?
At the opera house are we allowed to bring our own water, or do we need to spend a fortune on thier crazy over priced bottles?

they wont let you take your own in... but the water isn't too bad there. i don't remember how much it was, but they don't care if you refill them. i've been to some parties where they have security in the bathrooms making sure you don't refill your water bottles. its not like that tho. so bring a backpack or wear seomthing with huge pockets so you can stash a bottle to refill all night. or jsut sip from your friends bottles. steer clear of strangers tho, you don't want to end up with the hullabaflu

I dunno... if you aren't dealing drugs, I don't really see why security would be a concern. If you insist on doing illegal things, it's not hard to do them in advance, off the premises... the most you could really "need" to do inside would be consuming things, which isn't hard to do quickly and quietly... If this were a rock concert at the opera house, no body would expect security to just ignore everyone the whole night and let people do whatever... so how come they're being bitchy because it's a different type of event? It's a little weird having these I'm-pissed-off-cause-I-have-the-authority-to-be attitudes walking around, but just ignore 'em and enjoy the party! Plus... Opera House is ghetto? Hahaha... yeah, let's move Hulla to The Circuit... or V... no, I'm sorry, I'm not even going to joke about Viva. Opera House is a PALACE compared to most of the other venues I go to... i think the security there is pretty nice. they're jsut doing their job. i've had some pretty bad experiences with shady security in other places. i've never had a problem with opera house security.

No, I call annoying blowing my noise or pissing in the washroom and having some dude knock on the door and demand to know what the fuck I am doing in there, annoying. At times, they just pop their heads in without knocking... They do that to a lot of people. Oh ya, and taking up space on the dance floor, folding their arms and looking @ ravers with contempt and disgust is pretty annoying...
And yes, it is ghetoo... But yeah, Viva is WAY ghetto, but that doesn't even need to be mentioned it... Last edited by astralkid : January 12th, 2004 at 12:45 AM. |

In the entire history of Hulla we've never thrown a party and not gotten complaints about security. The only time I've never seen complaints about security at any event is when there is a distinct LACK of them, and that's not good either.
The Opera House security is amongst the most cooperative I've ever seen, and if there are issues about them being a little over vigilant it's because bad shit has gone down in the past as we (hulla or the venue) don't want to see it happen again. They really are working for everyone's best interest, which is a safe event. I've seen security (at other venues) robbing people, extorting money, taking bribes, kicking the shit out of people and all sorts of dodgy shit that make the opera house guys look like angels. If it was a perfect world we'd never have to worry about anything bad happening, but it's unfortunate the few bad apples have to leave everyone on alert. |

I LIKE being thoroughly searched when I enter... no, lol, not THAT WAY...
If I'm searched thoroughly, I don't look like a thug, I'm polite with security, I don't look fucked up or anything that'd make security wanna pick on me, so I know that they're treating other people the same way, and if anyone tries to pull any bad shit, they're far less likely to get away with it. It gives me the ability to feel safe for the rest of the night. When I was entering the grounds at WEMF with two friends and three backpacks, we weren't even patted down... it unnerved me, we could've brought an uzi in if we'd wanted to... but we looked pretty lame I'm glad they weren't that lax overall, cause it spooked me. |

yeah... been there, done that. it definitly puts a damper on your evening. it happened to all my guy friends before. they didn't touch us girls, they only harassed me verbally, but they beat the guys up and stole their money and hassled them for having drugs, which by the way not one of them actually had. it was definitly a sucky evening to say the least |

When the opera house was used back in oh say 2000 for other events (not hulla) the security was really really hardcore. I remember they harrassed my friend (who has never even tried anything other than weed) saying that he was hiding drugs under his legs when he was sitting down. He was searched and almost kicked out. I remember the security never used to even let you sit down so you would be exhausted and get yelled at eveytime you tried to rest. But that was before hulla began using the venue regularily. Now they are always really professional during their searches and except to ask people crowding in the foyer to move along they seem to really let eveyone do their thing. I have yet to have a problem with any of them except one security guy who insited on hitting on me for the first little bit when I got to the party!
