For the "veteran" Hulla goers
as you can see on the left side, my date of registration is '99
that's when i started to go to raves. my 1st rave was hulla 12 (or was it 11?) very nice experience. since then i've been to maybe 3 or 4 Hullas. each one was just beautiful. i haven't been to a rave in years. i kind of grew out of the rave scene. don't have time for it and frankly, it's not my lifestyle anymore. my question is, is there anyone here from "the old days"? i don't know how much things have changed. i know though it can never be the same as before. if anyone here is from that "era", does it still feel like old Hulla? and.. doesn't it feel weird that you're older now and still going to raves? thanks |

My first party was "for those who know" in '99 so this upcoming hulla will mark four years of being involved in the rave scene. My life has changed a lot too and there was a year that I didn't party at all but somehow I found my way back. It has changed alot... the venues are smaller and there is more security, and of course as I get older the rest of the rave community gets younger since there are very very few people around from the old days. But with that said the vibe at a hullabaloo party still holds strong. I still get that same giddy feeling everytime I go to a hulla as I did at my first party. Plus I have the added bonus of having those years behind me and seeing newbies experiance the rave scene and hullabaloo for the first time. Even though with how I go about my life I doubt anyone would guess I am a raver it is still such a huge part of my life. I think if you havent gone in a long time why not go again... then If you have changed too much you will know for sure, and if it is still in your heart you'll be glad that you opened your eyes to it again. Go to enchanted!!! I really really want to meet up with people who have stood the test of time!
Cheers

Well, I started partying in 92, but didn't start going to Hullas till 95. I moved to California in 2000 and have only just started going to Hullas again. I went to FITS (2003) and had a great time! I didn't recognize anyone from the old days but the newer people are cool as hell and very friendly. I check the message boards almost daily but rarely respond to anything unless it really catches my eye, I just opened this new account recently so I could actually respond if I wanted to. The days of 2000+ people at a Hulla are over (at least for now). The smaller crowd is actually nice cause you have room to dance and don't get lost in the party as easily. I always wore the same outfit at hullas (when they were larger), so if I met people I could tell them to look for me at the next party (since it is almost impossible to remember names!). I wore an orange jersey, black visor and always had battery powered xmas tree lights on as a belt (trademark). So maybe we met, if so it would be good to see a familiar face again! I'm 29 and don't feel weird at all going to partys. I will be moving back to Buffalo this summer and plan on getting back into the scene again. If I ever figure out how to post pictures (arghh), I will post some pictures from the "old days". Maybe someone could tell me how to post pictures? Thanx

I think that I can def. say that I am aon old head. I started goin 2 parties when I was about 14, and now I'm 21. I've been through alot, there was a time when I stopped goin 2 parties b/c of the kids that were getting involved, and now, there is no scene in Pittsburgh. But I'm in michigan now, and there are a ton of kids out here tryin 2 keep the scene alive. But i have 2 agree w/a bunch of others, there is nothing like Hulla. Seein everyone again, and I feel young again. i dont eve

every party I go halfway through the night I say I am getting too old for this
is it the same hulla? No not by a long shot, are they better or worse I say neither. Like comparing an apple to an orange. Every large venue we used have run of the place are all gone. Kids grew up ( I am almost 26) and moved on to other things. What keeps hulla special while having a high turnover rate it still manages to pull in hundreads of new ppl every party and helps keeping it maybe not growing but in maintaining while most the major companies folding up |

kriztian:
you know you're getting old when you use terms like "high turnover rate" and refer to hulla and others as "companies" i remember "back in the day" (damn, it sounds funny) the board here had people with names like "CaNdiE_pOpSiClEz" or something like that... and there were threads like "what's your favorite E" is drugs a taboo topic on hulla nowadays? and are there still Etards?.......how do kids treat drugs at raves... particularly hulla... since it was THE place for Etards (sorry...but it's true)? |

Alot of people just drink... And a lot of people say they just drink but their pupils tell a different story Drugs and raves go hand and hand even if we try to pretend that the drugs have nothing to do with the rave scene... they will always be there... but I must say I think more people now a days especialy the vetrans are steering clear of E. I personaly dont care what people do as long as they at least attempt to be responsible!

Hi J-ACID.
I've bin going 2 rave shows 4 a while now. I'm getting older myself 2 and I seem not 2 leave the scene. I've seen a lot of people come and go and I'm seeing lots of fresh faces but I still see some old-school ravers from the past that R still raving. Some people change there music style from house to hardocre or trance 2 jungle and some change from candykids to junglist or houser 2 spacekid I've stayed the same since I herd my first hardcore anthem and stayed the same ever since I don't know when I'll stop raving I love the scene and the people who make it happen Respect to all the Old-schooler and New-schoolers You guys make it ((((((((A HAPPY VIBE )))))))) Last edited by happyhat : November 23rd, 2003 at 05:59 PM. |

ah j acid! i remember you from the board long ago!
well i'm hitting my first party in like 2 1/2 years [a hulla to boot] and i don't even really like happy hardcore! but hulla's are still a huge social gathering as far as i'm concerned! i only ever went because it's the one place people still get together, drive forever to go to just because its a HULLA. i'm kinda of excited, kind of scared. i'm totally out of the scene.... it's hilarious, i put on some old tapes the other night and a full out work out in my room dancin! AND OMG! how did i ever dance to that shit! it's SO FAST! [hello mad amounts of meth up my nose maybe? haha] but fuck! i am out of shape! or at least i feel like it.... i feel old. my first party, i was 15- i'm almost 24 now. and i didn't party all the time every weekend twice a weekend and 2 times a week until i was 19 and living in toronto... now i'm back in my hometown groovin it ala oldjungle/raver dancin styles styles to some cheap ass hip POP like as if i'm the best dancer because i'm in the "know" from years ago or something, [ha im lame] so i can't really tell you if anything's changed... it's been so long.... but i'm glad you brought this up because i was kind wonderin the same thing! like, how OLD am i gonna feel at this next hulla without my funfur? uneable to dance for more than like 20 minutes without being out of breathe, and seeing all these etarded kids with their damn soothers [i always hated that] and getting my whistle at the door? seriously, i don't know about it.... but i've been blaring music for days trying to psych mysel up for a rave! and banging beats that hurt my ears ALL night! surrounded my drugs and, do people still wear 60 inch phat pants? haha

every hulla there are more new faces than familiar ones, but thats a good thing
there are still plenty of people who've been going for years and years, the "REGULARS" if you will. Kriz I didn't know you were at Hulla 1!! James was at Hulla 3. My first Hulla was 10 or 11 and I've been going ever since. I missed Ooh Crikey though because I was out of town. But anyway Hulla still has that magic for me. If you're coming to Enchanted, know you can expect the same vibe as "back in the day" and try not to be too jaded and you'll have a wikkid time! |
