one jungle set during hulla gives ppl a nice break from trance/HHC. Well, if not jungle, maybe hardcore breaks or something to just mix it up a lil'

no doubt!
I wish the line up for the next hulla would mimic the style of the old line ups. 9pm-7am, 2 UK headliners, 6 happycore locals and 2 jungle djs. No trance or hardhouse, just stompy beats and breakbeat |

There was one jungle set at the Hulla in Dec 2002... I thought I was gunna die... had my fingers crossed and was like "hurry up you! I'm getting a headache!" I just sat there waiting for HHC to come back on... felt like forever |

Trance is fair... it's a nice break for us old guys who still try and dance to every set, even though our bodies exact a price the next day for it... dancing to hardcore is tres demanding. Trance is a little easier... the harder trance, the more energetic stuff, is really good, actually. It's the ambient stuff that gets to me... I always feel like I'm listening to the credits of one of those twisted deep movies....
Jungle grows on you, I guess... it's not really my thing. Either way, the HHC is what we're all there for.

Some of us 'old guys' don't have bodies that are worn out and such.. we can still go on.. if not every set... most of them.. or at least i can... i got the energy of an 8 year old.. heh

But some of us other old guys work two jobs, attend school full time, and are in the army... on top of drinking every night.
This body is beat to shit. PS - this may have posted already... dumb comp is acting up. If so, disregard. |

Jungle sets were a big part of the old Hulla main rooms, and I think one great rinseout set every couple of parties is a lot of fun and can break things up a bit. For every person who's not into it, there are many that love it, and we'll never get a thugy crowd, as no self-respecting junglist is going to buy a ticket for a single DJ amongst a night of happy hardcore.
The purpose of trance or jungle sets is to break up the night a bit. They may change the vibe a bit, but that's by design, so when the next hardcore dj steps up the place is ready to explode again. My own preference when I play anywhere is always to follow a non-hardcore DJ so I can make maximum impact. |
