Question Car Rentals

Hey guys!

I'm from So. Cali. and heading out to All Good Things... I was just wondering if anybody knew anything about renting cars in Toronto? my bf and I are flying in the week before and out the middle of the next week, and would love to do some sight seeing and whatnot... but sometimes it's hard without a car (or we're just so used to it from living in LA...).

Are we able to rent a car and drive in Canada? Are there any restrictions? Here, it's 25 years old with a major credit card. My bf is 25, but neither of us have a major credit card... just debit Visas.

I really hope they're not as strict when travelling so far away!

If they are, what's the public transportation like? We are probably staying about 20 miles away from the party... does the public transportation run all night (cause it doesn't here...)?

Sorry for all of the questions! LOL! I just want to be prepared!

Hi,

It's all the same car rental companies (Dollar, Hertz, Thrifty, etc...) with all the same rules. A visa debit card may be good enough as long as theres enough money on there to preauthorize the rental. I use my Paypal Mastercard all the time for car rentals and that just uses money from my paypal account.

Some public transit runs all night here, but if you're 20 miles away from the venue that may be difficult. There is a public pay lot right near the opera house that charges a few dollars for the night to park. Or you can try and find a hotel closer to the downtown area of toronto and take the streetcar to the venue which runs all night.

The taxis are easy and inexpencive too. I usually stay somewhere downtown and take a taxi around.

funny that taking the TTC to and from the venue to a hotel actually costs more than it does to park your car in a lot for the night though..

there is also discount car and truck rentals.

as for a hotel, try going on www.priceline.com and get a hotel there.
make sure to put the area as downtown toronto, and you should get something quite close to the venue

if you are able to get the Merriot Courtyard, or Days Inn on Carleton st., then it's almost within walking distance!
