Sorry I didn't make it back!
I took Mr Moo home at midnight, planning to return to the party after I'd nursed him to sleep. Unfortunately he nursed *me* to sleep as well! (Ah, those lovely tranquilizing hormones released by a baby's breastfeeding... one of nature's ways of ensuring you don't kill your offspring.) By the time I woke up awhile later it was around 2:30am so I would have missed Frolic's set anyway, so I decided just to stay home.
Hope everyone else had an awesome night! I think Mr Moo enjoyed himself - he does like being in the middle of things, and there were plenty of people talking to him and smiling at him last night. |

Mr Moo doesn't actually go inside the club, as it would be too loud and crowded for him in there. He stays outside with me (in his sling, under my coat) while I do my job (handling the will call list and guestlist). I take him home around midnight, when the will call and guestlist have gotten tiny enough that I can hand the job off to Athena.
As for the nickname, it refers to the fact that he LOVES boob. Loves it loves it loves it. Boob is the primary joy in his life. So, since I often feel like a dairy cow and he's my little calf, he became Mr Moo. |

It describes some girls I know too. Funny story, I went to a Halloween party with a bunch of gay guys. I swear I've never had ANYONE be as interested in my boobs as those gay guys were - every time I started to feed Mr Moo they'd all rush over: "She's feeding him again!! Look, he's eating!" They were totally fascinated. |

Oh no, I'm a total boob nazi (i.e.: militant breastfeeder). Public breastfeeding doesn't even remotely faze me. My feeling is that discreet nursing doesn't help anyone because most people don't even realize a woman is nursing her baby; then they get the idea that nursing a baby isn't something women do in public. The only way the general public is going to get used to women breastfeeding is if they see indiscreet nursing on a regular basis. So when I breastfeed I try to be as public as possible and show as much skin as possible without actually making it a hassle for myself (i.e.: taking off my shirt entirely would be additional hassle, but pushing my shirt above my breasts isn't an additional hassle). If people like me aren't willing to push the issue, nobody will, and then women will continue to be afraid to nurse in public.
Sometimes I feel like most of my life is a political issue... but hey, somebody has to do it, and it may as well be me. |

best story yet was when you felt a little upset the one day and headed over to the Eaton Center to breast feed right in the middle of the place waiting for security to try and "escort" you to a "breastfeeding room"..
nothing beats your strong will and strong stances on issues you believe in. PS - Add my name to the list of boob lovers too.

Since it isn't a sexual thing, I have to surmise that gay men have a real appreciation for just how amazing breasts are. I mean - wow! Breasts! They're soft and somewhat smooshy and capable of producing wonderful stuff that can sustain and grow an entirely separate lifeform. I am in awe of boobs, I really am. And breastmilk may well be the most amazing substance ever. It's laced with natural tranquilizers to soothe the baby, the composition changes on a daily basis (breastmilk for a preemie, for example, is much higher in fat and an extra dose of antibodies; breastmilk for a toddler, while lower in volume, is extremely high in antibodies), and the composition even changes over the course of a single feeding (lower in fat at the beginning and the fat content rises the longer the baby nurses). If baby is feeling ill with something transmissible, it's passed to the woman's nipples during a feeding, and her body produces antibodies to that particular strain that are then given to the baby during the next feeding. How awesome is that? Forget bronzing the baby shoes - I'll probably bronze my breast pump! |
