i'm always wearing a hoodie (usually with my school on it) and comfy pants and i always say i am visiting friends...it totally depends on the officers you get as well...i've found that the young male border patrol, both in the states and in canada always give me a harder time of it

well, I learned a little something about border crossings this weekend entering the US to play a gig.
Entering the US, Robin and I had our passports ready plus the paperwork I need to enter to work. The guy in the booth was friendly enough, everything was in order, and then just before he let us go he asked for our passports back cause our car got flagged by the computer. I asked him why, he said it was just random and he needed us to go in for some "census" material. this "census" material meant filling out a bunch of papers, being questioned by 2 more customs officers seperately and having my car searched. They explained to me afterwards it's just procedure to make sure they're doing their jobs properly. Anyways, I'm just passing this on so that you don't worry if it happens to you, they're obligated to pull people in for further searches randomly by the computer. |

I've been searched once. They asked me to pull over, and they searched my entire car, then they found all my kandi, and they pulled me into one room, and my friend into another room so we couldnt talk 2 each other. then they asked us a bunch of questions, and they asked me why i had a binky, and accused me of having it for xtc. i told them that i always have things in my mouth, and thats why i got my tongue pierced, so i can always be playing with something. i dont think he believed me, but they had 2 let us go b/c we didnt have any drugs

It's been my experience that the young male and old female guards are the biggest jerks, while the young female guards are the nicest and least likely to check ID.
Ian and I would always be trying to look up into the booths to see which one had a female in it.

I found that if you're crossing over in buffalo tell them you're going to the Casino Niagra works well.
When i went to my first Hulla, we told them we were going to a show in the Opera House and then the guy asked what kinda of show we said "techno" and he then asked "do you guys have any acid"... what kind of question is that? ... even if we did, would we say "yes, yes we do." i don't really call getting back seeing 3 of us passed out in the car around 6-7am... oh wait, yeah i do, one of the people i went with was driving his friends car becasue the owner was mad tired, and like we were the only ones at the border and there was only one young girl there checking. We were but like 10 feet from her and my friend accidently honked the horn, we all jumped and screamed, and the guard also jumped she was cool about it, she said "what are you trying to do? wake me up!?" and just smiled. (and she was damn cute!). All in all, i've had good experiences with the border people |

i feel your pain comletely... i think its best not to lie and say youre going to a sporting event or something like that, because theyre not stupid if they find your candy and stuff they know what youre doing. but if you say youre visiting friends and going to a club in toronto or somethig like that it's technically not a lie. you are going to be seeing tons of your friends, and youre going to the opera house. the only detail you left out was that it was actually a rave, but you technically didnt lie to them. but they might give you a harder time if you said you were going to a concert or sporting event before you know? like you had something to hide

YOU won't BELiVe This.
I've been to a few hulla's in the past. Let me tell you Customs blows. I've been strip searched, detained in customs (3x) and had to take two cars and switch them when we got over the border, we had my friend's mom take her mini-van over with all our stuff and say she was going shopping. We of course got searched. Don't take anyone under the age of 18 without a parental note. Don't smile when you talk to the people at customs. ~**Don't make jokes about your friends having to lift up their balls during a stip search**~ they really don't like that. I can't say all of it isn't worth it thou~! I can't wait until the 6th!&*^*&$ I haven't been to hulla in almost a year! WeEe!
Anyone know of cheap hotels in the area? The driving home at 7 in the morning is a killer

nope. We were searched and they found *suspicous* material that could be marijuana. It was leaves. So they stripped searched us. Being that we had nothing on us, It was rather funny. They didn't think it was. I couldn't help but laugh when my friend dt told me he had to lift his balls up, i only laughed for about five minutes..and even then..it was an under my breathe giggle and they blew up. I mean they even said *you think we are dumb canadians a.* lol..good times man.
