The Opera House is a perfectly sized venue for today's hullas... the only real complaint i have of the opera house is the death trap of a stair well to the dungeon ( aka the washrooms )...BEWARE of those stairs! it's basically like a 4 way stop on the road. you wait, they walk, then you walk. simple You can go on stage and dance closer to the front but i wouldn't recommend it seeing as Security will be forced to kick you right off. Alot of ppl. get up there and two seconds later have to come right off. The dj's are all friendly NORMAL ppl...they're around all night walking and mingling just like everyone else. Especially Donny ( D-Minus ) and Chris ( Frisky )...you can ALWAYS find them upstairs at the bar...haha, wonder what they're doing up there They're not Kings or Queens or anything like that. They're normal everyday ppl. So don't be all freaked out to go say hello... Standing at the front of the stage on the floor you can see the tables and the dj spinning...you can't see exactly what record is ON the table...but let that be a surprise. MOST dj's atleast do the chicken bop...meaning their heads bop around during their set. Some do lil shuffles...ala the " Frolic Bounce " Some get REALLY into it...like Donny ( D-Minus ) he tends to get pretty hyper sometimes PULL UP YOUR PANTS DONNY!!!!!!!!! anyways...the opera house constantly gets complained about as a venue...but really, there's no point in arguing or complaining the venue. It's hulla's home, and it will be either until the end, or until someone BUILDS a better venue. Cause the ones left standing in Toronto just aren't worth even bothering with.

i was a tad freaked out to say hi to dj rap at wemf just cuz she's so commercialized now, so i didn't...but i was right at the edge of the stage with the kandi bear kosheen dancin like no one was watchin!!!
dj's are generally down to earth reasonable people that are supercool to talk to...there are a few who aren't but most are awesome

Will Hulla be more fun than WEMF?
Hahahahaha... yes. And what the hell are you talking about, see what record is playing from the balcony? I can barely see what DJ is playing from the balcony. :P Speaking of which... congratulations on the Hulla booking. You deserve it.

Don't be. They are some of the nicest people in the scene. DJs and MCs aren't like rock "stars" or high powered pop bands... for one, they actually have talent, and for two, when they come down off the stage they turn back into normal people. Although looking back, at my first party I was all super impressed too. I'm still very impressed by them (justifiably so), I just don't let it stop me from talking to them. Nor do I let it stop me from drinking them under the table. |

i have only met one dj who is very full of himself and thinks he's better than everyone else... for the most part, they're cool...
now, except for the indoor thing, i thought wemf was pretty fuckin fun...hulla really will be more fun? one night's better than a 3 day long event? hmm...i can't wait!!! |

I was having a bad day, ok? j/k .. err, at least I hope it's not me you're talking about . All the hulla djs are approachable people, especially after they're done playing and they're just hanging out enjoying themselves. Security is posted at the stage to keep people off of it, because otherwise it gets overrun. We then have two problems; one is things have been stolen from the stage, and when there's piles of valuable electronics and dj equipment that's a big issue. The other problem is people like to dance up there, and if we make an exception for anyone then it becomes a zoo. This is a personal pet peeve of mine as I find it EXTREMELY discrespectful to the DJ playing to be dancing in front of them blocking their view of the crowd (and the crowds view of the DJ). It's happened to me over the years when security isn't in position and it basically destroys my groove. |
