any banned items?
Hi! I read the FAQ, and unfortunately this question wasn't answered! At a lot of parties in the US, items deemed "drug paraphenalia" are banned. These include: pacifiers, vicks vapo-rub/inhalers, glowsticks, other shiny/lightup objects, etc etc. Are any of these things banned at hulla parties?
I'm a hulla virgin travelling there from South Carolina, and I thought I'd better check before getting to the venue! Thanks in advance, can't wait to make lots of friends! hugs Sugar <3 |

Security won't give you a problem at the venue, but there have been some reports about people crossing the border getting hassled after finding rave items/clothing. I'm not sure what to suggest, it would probably only be a problem if they randomly decided to search your car and found it but in the interest of a smooth entry I'd suggest to not bring too much of it and pack it well.
You can buy glowsticks here, same with vicks products (not at the venue, but any shop). So you might want to consider that. Others reading this might have some suggestions as well. |

thanks frolic! sounds great... we're coming by plane, so I'm thinking I'll probably just separate all my "paraphenalia" amongst luggage/carryon etc. I'm sure as long as all of it isn't seen in the same context. (ie crammed into a transparent pink and yellow backpack with stickers all over it) they'll never put 2 and 2 together.
are purses/backpacks allowed in the venue? |

Oh, coming by plane will probably be much easier if the stuff is packed in your luggage.
The venue has a mandatory bag check, but you are allowed to access your bag through the night and they won't charge you extra. If it's small enough to be a purse they won't make you check it. |

they usually allow stuffed animal backpacks too... I have a popple backpack and they've never made me check it cuz they understand it's cute and part of an outfit.

Baby your backpack's not that big...the pika itself is, but the space to put stuff in isn't so it should be just fine

As long as there's not enough room for guns or bongs, they usually let it in.

opera house security is nothing! Here every venue checks your shoes and most wont allow bags at all. I think the opera house is very leniant with security actually. I wear leg braces and every place makes me take my shoes and my braces off and its a damn pain, but the opera house just checked them out quick and didnt make me take them off, as it takes me like 10 mins to get the f*ckers back on

Yeah, Oki, your backpack will be fine... my popple is big enough for me to use as an overnight bag and they always let it in. Opera house security is very friendly, they do their jobs well... keeping the party safe AND fun.

Opera house security really is great...they make sure everyone has a good and safe time...at Power of Dreams, they had a woman stationed at the door to the ladies room. As I'm sure many of you ladies know, it's easy to get sucked into talking in the bathroom and just lose track of time. The lady at the door was awesome because she kept reminding us there was a party going on upstairs too

I got into some pretty in depth conversations in the bathroom with some ladies at Edge of Madness. Which was weird, because it was the Men's bathroom.
Anyway, they tend to be really good at the Opera House, I've never had a problem and they've always carried out the search with a smile. Border, now, is not entirely the same... just be careful crossing the border.

opera house security is somewhere in the middle for me.
i don't mind a strict search as i have nothing to hide... hell.. most times i have all my stuff in hand, with my cigarette packs out ready to go. it's when you have something to hide, that's when you'll get the problems. just make their job easy, and they'll be easy

If there's anywhere in this world where I actually respect someone of a higher authority than myself, it's at Hulla. The security is great, and pretty reasonable. You have to respect them for the fact that they do what they do, to be sure we're safe (did that make sense?).
And the paramedics that are on-call (or however that works) is absolutely amazing. For those of you that remember me from Get Hype, you'll all understand that the security and medics pretty much saved my life. Thank you all. And Frolic...keep on spinnin' in the free world.
