oooooh a happy Q-pid post
hmmm next hulla memory.....I dunno if Hulla at WEMF counts....but Saturday night in the hulla tent I was dancing my ass off to Frolics set and I'm pretty sure it was Q-pid that came up to me and was like "dude it's your birthday!" and I was soo happy I just turned 18, and I looked around and it was all 'the original 4' in the tent and we were all jumpy and giddy and happy birthday-ing and what not, and then this friend of mine gave me a tiny gemstone (which I still have 4 years later) and then Frolic spun tears run cold and I almost cried, cuz it was my favorite song at the time. It was great! If I had to pick one moment of my life to spend the rest of eternity in, that would be the one.

hulla memory #3
The hulla venue thread made me think of this, even tho I still can't place the venue.....theres two little snipit memories of this one. Waiting in line...in the cold and MC jumper yelling "when I say MC, you say Jumper" and then I think Will counting down to the doors opening and everyone yelled "Happy Hullabaloo!" and at the same party, sitting in the chill room (may have been a tent) and small groups of people sporadically yelling "happy Hullabaloo" or breaking out into song. It was really cool. |

Pills?
Geez, if you're on medication, maybe you shouldn't be out dancing all night.

BTW
this didnt really happen.. it was a joke.. I , by no means, intend to promote the use of drugs at ANY hullabaloo event.. in fact.. quite the opposite.. just an example oh what could happen to you if your dumb enough to try and do drugs at a hulla
but Power of Dreams was definately my ultimate hulla memory.. the people i came with.. the vibe at the party.. it was all so perfect.. |

This ones easy since...well Ive only been to one Hulla (Get Hype)
I had been inside for about 5 minutes just standing around looking at everyone and listening to the music (first party and i wasnt sure what to do). I just turned to my friend and smiled. He asked me "what?" and all I said was "I'm Home" and proceeded to dance all night long.

ive got more than a few, but one that really stands out is Funtopia 3, waiting outside in line, screaming my fool head off trying to keep myself warm/entertained (and having the entire line screaming back).

I'd have to say Power of Dreams was my ultimate experience. Twas my first partie ever, and I met THE coolest people. And the vibes were exquisit. And...I met Anabolic Frolic. The one DJ I have been favouring for years now.
But, Get Hype comes DAMN close. I was the girl who was escorted out of there by the paramedics. I will never forget that. I NEEDED that Hulla, and so did my spirits. But I missed it. Damn anti-biotics vs. vodka. Ugh. haha But I'm sure I've got more wonderful Hulla experiences to come. I hope.

There are so many memories and it's so hard to pick one that topped all the others, but here it goes.
It was WEMF 2002, and it was my frist real party. I was in the hardcore tent, and I was walking around giving people sparklers, telling everyone "Make sure you light this up when Frolic comes on." An hour or two passed, and it was Chris' set. Someone came up to me, and showed me a lighter, and proceeded to light the sparkler I gave them. I lit mine, and with two of us going, it trigged a chain reaction. Everyone else proceeded to light their, and I though to myself.. Wow, I did this... It felt so good.. I tried to walk up to everyone and thank them for doing their part.. You had to be there.. you had to be me.. that night my life was changed.. I realized that no matter who you are.. no matter how you act.. no matter were your from, everyone is your friend, and the vibe from the crowd is something that I will never forget. OMG and then... then Frolic proposed to his wife, and everyone hugged.. I cried (yes I really did).. and I danced my ass off and loved every second of it. *cheers* Xphox P.S. The person who came up to me was Christy, and maybe you'll see her as she's suppost to come to this party.. |

That is pretty wikkid... I think we can all take this moment and stop and think about how much our life has been changed by finding this awesome scene... really makes a difference, doesn't it?
I feel pretty bad for all the people out there who never find out about raving... or worse, the people who refuse to give it a chance because of all the negative images they associate with it from the media.

xphox I so remember that...yeah man that was really cool.
Hulla memeroy #4 Frisky's set at oh crikey wot a scorcher. It was my 2 year party. This set was sooooo awesome I cried....he played every single favourite song of mine at the time. I danced my ass off... I thought I was gonna explode from happiness. If he ever spins that exact set again I think I'd die. Too bad there's no tapes of it. |

Hullabaloo! Rush Hour
Asking Frolic to spin "Get Into Love" and getting the response, "well I don't know if I brought it" (translastion -> the track is old and I don't play it anymore ) But then having Spinback drop it out of nowhere and me going completely nuts.

xphox I actually remember you guys! It's crazy because I've met so many people through hullas and other hardcore parties that I can't remember names, and sometimes don't remember faces until there's a memory linked with em.
My first hulla is still probably my most memorable....it was the i-dance preparty and I was super excited to be seeing frolic for the first time. 6 months earlier I'd seen frisky at my first party in rochester, and then went out and bought my first happy2bhardcore cd (chapter 4). I went to that hulla with my boy (who only lasted 2 weeks, hulla just happened to be in that 2 weeks), and ravrkittie. Somehow we got up on stage during frolic's set, and I just remember dancing there, hardly know any of the music, and playing off the mc's motions to get the crowd hyped. (And booty dancing w/ mc kwik! lol) From that time on I've always loved every chance I get to be one of the stage kids, and now I'm learning how to spin and throwing my first party.... I love everything this scene has done for me. It's so accepting, and music has always been a part of my life I just lacked the dedication to one instrument to have a future with it. I found a future with all the various forms of electronic music...hopefully by the end of the summer I'll have produced my first track as well! I gotta say thanks to hulla for bringing such a huge hardcore presence to North America, and to all the party kids I've met over the last two years cuz you're all so great! |

*sighs*
Oh dear, I am all choked up thinking about this...
Mine is from my very first hulla, anthems. I went with my then-boyfriend, and was having a magical time. About halfway through the night, I was sitting up near the bar on the lower floor, just people watching, when I heard the beginning of "Hold Me Now" (forever and always my VERY FAVOURITE TUNE!). I was enjoying and grinning and listening, thinking about how much I loved the song, Hulla, the people and the vibe, when the dj turned the sound all but off, and all you could hear was everyones voices singing along, so loud and beautiful and clear! I was crying by the time the song was over. It was one of the most intensely enjoyed and intensely experienced memories that I possess, and I know that I will always get goosebumps and butterflies thinking about it, for as long as I live. A hullagirl for life! Thanks hullacrew! x's and o's, Candice

^^^You better believe we are...Hullabaloo is one of those things, one of those places...one of those feelings that so many people long for and need, but never ever find. We're the lucky group of people who get to experience it every 3 months, or as often as we can. I honestly never feel more loved, at home or at ease than I do when I'm at hulla, and that's when I'm totally sober.
Reading over everyone's memories makes me wistful that I hadn't discovered this oasis earlier, but I'm so glad I did. I can't imagine going through the rest of my life with this part of me missing. Only 11 more days people! Happy Hulla!!!!

I think my Ultimate Hulla memory (although there are many so FANTASTIC ones) would be from Funtopia 3 @ the docks...... during frolics set..... staring out at a full house of hands in the air, party goin on, can't stop and don't want to stop, pure unadultered ENERGY in the air.
I was transfixed.. I stared out at the crowd for most of the set... wanting to dance but wanting to create an absolute mental picture so I could always remember what I was seeing and feeling at that time. That was the Hulla-vibe I saw. Dave p.s. Also, one of my funnest times was dressing up in the big moose outfit and running around outside while people were in the line and dancing around on stage in it. It was fun posing for a lot of pictures and just being goofy (but damn it was hot in there). |
