Docks
I know the whole issue with the docks, I was there that night. I brought this up before but more about the Opera House and I was told that basically the docks doesnt do all night parties anymore and that is the main reason hulla isnt there anymore ( other then the incident). I was looking at there page just seeing what was going on there and I ran across this
"We invite all Professional Planners, Promoters, Associations, Societies, Soiree Specialists to meet with us regarding fundraisers, Conventions, Concerts,** All Night Dance Parties** and Special Event Partnerships with Docks Marketing Support. Promoters – please call for information on our new “All-Inclusive” Electronic & Urban Event package prices! Maybe there is hope for a hulla docks reunion? Ofcourse I know that there is other issues at play but it has been over 2 years and nothing bad has happened at a hulla sense then. It is not like Hulla's arent safe, I mean there have been tons of parties sense 1997, and only two incidents both of which in my opinion were out of the hands of anabolic and could have happened at any docks event. It just happens it was ours. Stryker |

That information is outdated, the Docks are under orders from their liquor license to no longer do "raves". This was primarily over sound complaints Docks had received for many years from Toronto Island residents. As a matter of fact, Empire had some events scheduled there this winter and had their dates cancelled on them.
I'm not the only promoter in town, obviously if the Docks was available it would be used by other people. |

Even if that info wasnt out dated, by "All night dance parties" they mean those Z103.5 parties that play mostly euro and really bad urban beats.

Those events generally end around 3 AM versus a rave that would likely end around six or seven. I'm guessing their was some wheeling and dealing done between the LLBO and The Docks to the effect of, "you can keep your liquor license if you stop throwing parties after 3". |

Didnt they lose their liquor licesnse and the city said they'd get it back early if they agreed not to hold anymore "raves" there? Im not 100% sure of this, but it makes sense. The city found a legal (but still underhanded) way of eliminating another venue in a city that is already scarce of them.

yeah, the liquor violations Docks had were not rave related at all, but the liquor board (that would be the province, not the city) used the opportunity to kill any more raves there.

I think the best venue I ever liked for a Hulla party was back in 1999, that underground parking lot up on Adelaide in York... otherwise... best club venue.. would have to be... hmmmm... I'll have to go with The Newz *nods*... Never really liked the docks.. too cold inside, or at least I thought it was.
