Birthday Funtopia 4 is POSTPONED
Just figured I'd announce this now. We won't be able to proceed with our regularly scheduled big party for (Canadian) Thanksgiving weekend due to lack of venue.
If everything went according to schedule we'd be designing the flyer right now so it would be printed and ready for release at iDance but booking a venue is the first step and without that we have to shelve our plans for now. The Funtopia series of parties are held at such a high standard there is no way I could entertain the idea of holding it at a 2nd rate venue. I'll announce a new date when I can. Our iDance preparty will proceed as scheduled, and I look forward to seeing you there . |

As long as it happens I don't care!!!!! I can wait another month if I have too!!! Just bring in Sy & Unknown or Brisk and of course Justrich cause I caught him at WEMF and was good and I know with a packed venue he'd be even better!!!!

hulla in hamilton
I know hamilton isn't the biggest or nicest city but we have some pretty good venues for example the convention center, or how about cops, the stadium or Scott Park High School thats a big school that has just recently been shut down (I duno if they're usable but you could probably look into it). The best venus that hamilton has to offer is the lazer tag building on parkdale...
-two floors -ramps going from one floor to the other -meshed in balcony's over looking the dance floor below and the people on the other side of the upper level -blacklights and black light paint splashed everywhere -fenced in chill'n area in back all dirt and grass -deserted, surrounded by industrial sites and trucking companies these are all good venues check them out don't be afraid to bring to parties outside of Toronto. (people like to see their parties in new venues, so why not?) Concider it Thanks alot Nikki |

Hmmmm all I have to say... and ASK
is why not use an old venue? ummm I really dont know the whole venue situation. but the Guvernment is a nice venue.... i guess... wasn't foreverland or funtopia 2 year held there?? ANd this is directed strictly at Mr.frolic I think you should book Paulina Taylor. (for one thing... he's AWESOME ) whether or not he still spins...is another story... and plus he could spin as "Kage" aswell for trance. plus... i know it must be hard to controll the hulla crowds and size of the parties.... but why don't we NOT over flood the place.... like you know have someone counting till we reach maximum capacity and turn down those who are just to late.... . at like 1500 people or something... one more thing. Bring back the shuttle busses.!!!!!!! thanks. thats my 2 cents. Janise. |

It's old venues that I'm looking at. I've publically said that I am no longer in the new venue business. I will only use proven venues.
And as far as "proven" venues, there are not many available. Places like the Guv wont do all ages. Whatever old venue you can think of that isn't used anymore probably isn't available for a reason. We count every person going in for every event and never exceed the maximum occupancy. but Hulla's are popular so it's going to be full, never empty. There's an ongoing joke on this (and other boards) in that any party that is thanked "for not overcrowding" must have lost $10 000 or more. Hulla's are very expensive parties, the fact is they haven't made any money since 1999. Basically the state of the scene now leaves putting on events prohibitively expensive and thats why we have NO parties being put on any more and all the big promoters have left the scene. I'm trying to weather it out and hopefully an opportunity will arrise that can see a full on Hulla once again without me having to lose $15 grand on it. |

fair enough.
hehe, I was just babbleing about the over capacity thing, I realize its somewhat inevidable when it comes to hulla parties. (actually the idance pre party was perfect. just enough to keep the vibe strong...and not that many to trip over. ) I can uderstand how you lose tons in the business. Im jus' tryin' to think of a perfect venue.... but i have no clue what used to be used. anywho, keep on tryin'... i believe it will happen, and when it does no matter what crap the media portrays I'll always be there to support you, and hulla. later Janise |

What about the place where Big Top was thrown?

Big Top was at the international centre if not not mistaken.
That is in Peel's jurisdiction....and peel has a noise curfew of 2am (i think). Not to mention peel police would never allow a rave to go on here. Meanwhile its ok for Tony Monaco to throw Freestyle Rush there...which went into the late hours of the night....and police didnt seem to put up a fuss about that. meh politics suck. |

PEel region police wouldn't even let Liquid Adrenaline have their party there (in brampton) which was going to end at 2am as well.

Palais Royale could be an alternative to the opera house for a smaller hulla but it's definitely not even in the same league as what would be required for a Funtopia level party. Not to mention that the 2nd room (the HALLWAY) absolutely sucks. and patio season is almost over (I remember our tent at the Docks last october being really cold already).

Hey Anabolic,
How about the Tropicana on Spadian or the Skylounge. I know there not huge but they would still be good venues. (Especially the tropicana)

Skylounge has a hard time with 500 people.. and well FUNTOPIA series are the best. I went to Original Birthday Funtopia .. and THAT WAS awesome, Funtopia 2 was alright and Funtopia 3 was absolutely amazing.
But to Venue - - I know your in the old venues already used - but you gotta open some doors. Don't always look at Hamilton as a bad stinky place. FIND A BINGO HALL! |
