The Hulla Cherry Beach After Party is not the same as the Promise Soundsystem party, so I don't think they'll have info on the Hulla afterparty.
The Hulla Afterparty is well, after the party aka 6amish. The Promise party starts at around 4pm. |

true! my bad. but, i did talk to irving, he said that even though they're still constructing the soccer field, there is plenty of free space around at cherry beach. everything is fine. here are directions:
take the king street car east and get off two stops after parliament. i don't know the name of the stop, but if you go past the don valley parkway bridge, you have gone too far. walk south on cherry street, alllll the way to just past unwin avenue. from king street it's about about a 15 - 20 minute walk. the usual spot may be a little blocked off due to construction, but walk just a little to the left of the parking lot into the forest and you should find a nice place somewheres in there! anyways, the first promise party of the year is this sunday. i might go, so i'll report back to you-all lovely people. but the bottom line is that there is a definate green light on cherry beach being available for the after party. |

If you could report back here that would rule!
It saves me going down there to root around for a spot to have a party that I'm not even going to. |

(IMPORTANT: NEW AND PROPER DIRECTIONS TO CHERRY BEACH APPEAR AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS MESSAGE. THE OTHER DIRECTIONS WERE SLIGHTLY WRONG.)
ok, so i went to the sunday promise party on cherry beach. this was my first time ever there. it was a good time! from talking to people there, it seems as if this party wasn't in the exact spot that most of the the cherry beach promise parties are. that is because the usual spot is still undergoing some construction and has a fence around it. however, the spot where we did have the party is a very nice spot and very near to the original location, and technically is still a part of cherry beach. the spot where we partied is at the very bottom of cherry street. you will see a parking lot. it is off in "the woods" (an area that has several trees, but the trees are spaced out enough to allow for dancing) which are to the left of the parking lot. my advise would be to go down to cherry beach and see if your usual spot is blocked off or not. if it isn't, then you can go there. if it is, then head to the woods which are just a hop, skip, and jump away. they are also very beautiful . . . the trees are sooOOoo tall! and there is so much white fluff on the ground from dandilions, and some of it is floating through the air . . . it really feels like a magical location. anyways, like i said it was my first time going there. it was a little hard for me to find, because cherry street is a weird, curvey street, and also it's called "sumach" street until it gets to eastern avenue, which is south of king street (after which sumach turns into cherry street). NEW AND IMPROVED DIRECTIONS TO CHERRY BEACH: IF YOU ARE COMING STRAIGHT FROM THE OPERA HOUSE: take the queen street car westbound (queen is a street that runs east-west). the street you want to go down is sumach street (a street which runs north-south). but i'm not sure if the street car stops at sumach street. ask the driver if it does. if not, ask to be let off at river street and then continue to walk west (same direction as street car) until you get to sumach. (note: the two main streets that sumach is in between are river street, to the east, and parliament, to the west. so if you are coming from the east (the opera house), if you go past parliament you have gone too far. if you are coming from the west, if you go past river street, you have gone too far.) go south on sumach (since you were travelling west, south will be to your left) and eventually sumach will become cherry street (once you get to eastern avenue). follow cherry street all the way until the end, just past unwin avenue. it's a little confusing, though, because when you get to lakeshore, it looks as though cherry street ends. however, it does not end -- it just curves east (to the left if you're walking south). follow it over the bridge until you reach the end of the street, where you will see the parking lot where the beach and the woods are. |

Hay guyz
There is a streetcar stop at Sumach. Howevvvvver. It makes no sense to take the streetcar/TTC. The Sumach St. stop is literally a 5 minute walk from the Opera House. Then there is no TTC service that goes south on Sumach/Cherry to the Beach, so you would be walking it from there anyway. It would be cheaper for say four people to take a cab from the OH that brings you right to the Beach than to pay pay the 2.75 each to take the Streetcar literally 2 blocks then walk 30+ minutes to the Beach. |

Well its not THAT far - only about 30 minutes or so. But for a toonie each, you could get 4 people there in about 5 minutes.

It's becoming quite an issue for the tourism industry in Canada.

I know it's not at that point, but I have to get my digs in when I can. When I was going to school in Buffalo, I felt like I was trying to pass pesos when I asked if I could use Canadian funds at the college bookstore. They were only willing to give me 50 cents on the dollar.
I said fuckit and copied a friend's textbook instead. |

I've never had the opportunity to attend a Cherry Beach after party but I'm looking forward to it and very glad to hear it'll actually be happening.
However, I will get totally lost. I'm grabbing someone's leg that knows where their going and not letting go until we're there. Any volunteers?
