Driving across you always have good odds of passing right through without incident.

Heck, Robin was kicked out of Canada for being here for too long (this was before we got married). She flew back home to Cali, then flew to Buffalo and drove back across. We did that twice.

they'll ban you from the country Just for trying to cross the border. I mean everyone has to go through that checkpoint to get over the border, that just seems kinda hardcore for just trying to visit theyre country. anyway its all good if they do that then I'll deal with it when that time comes

He's absolutely right. You do have really good odds of getting through without a problem. I've crossed multiple times without even being asked for I.D.

But the possibility is there so you should be aware of the risks.

It has to be a government issued photo ID - drivers license or non-driver ID card for US citizens.

I'm Canadian, so I don't know how getting a passport works in the states, but honestly, it was pretty painless here. The line was short, and I got it in like 2-3 weeks.

^^ they SAY it can take over a month to get a passport, but when i got one a few years ago it only took a couple of weeks, and when i asked last month, i was told it would only take a few weeks. so it's really not that bad

^^ yeah it's usually always 2 weeks if you do it through the (U.S) postal system. I think the month long wait only applies to those who are not US-Born citizens, because of additional paper work that has to go through..

if the 19 year-old is going with you and your friend (16 years-old).. there shoulden't be no probelm crossing.

im pretty sure on that... cause if the 19 year old is going with you (assuming on having photo ID/ D.O.B or passport) .. he/she can serve as your gaurdian... not necessarly have to to be your parents.. just someone that is older. and I believe 19 is a legitimate age be "guardian".

anyone else want to input on a second opinion on this.. I say she's fine crossing as long if the 19 year-old is company.

Like I say, you should be alright crossing the border as long as the 19 year old friend is going along with you...and if you going by car as most people have said, the better chances you are passing by without much delay.

My understanding was that you can't cross without a document from your LEGAL guardian stating that they know you are going into the country with whomever the adult is. I'd check the immigration website just to be sure though. It was 8 years ago when I last had to worry about that, but when I went to college I needed a letter from my mom to go to MTL.

yea I heard the same, actually I have heard that from a few people, I made a post with the same question b/c I'm gonna bring my 16 year old brother, from what I understand you have to have a noterized letter of permission from the parent or guardian.
