i edited my original post cuz i sounded mean and jaded
listen... please READ the other forums... there is actually a thread titled "Passport FAQ's" and that should help you ...

YOU DON"T NEED A PASSPORT UNLESS YOU ARE FLYING TO CANADA.... period!!!

anyone who is driving into canada DOES NOT NEED A PASSPORT...
your birth certificate and state id or drivers license are sufficient...
a military ID is also considered valid identification...

YOU MUST BRING YOUR BIRTH CERTIFICATE.... either the actual document or a copy that has been notarized and contains a seal of authenticity...

a passport is helpful for expedient entrance to CA and return to the states however IS NOT REQUIRED!!!!

Doubtful.

You wont be allowed entry to the country if they run your name and find your record either. You will actually be banned from the country. You may get lucky if you're completely honest with Canada Customs about your record, but if you're coming from really far away it isn't worth the risk.
