That's how I met Gobstoppa in the first place. He always used to find me, and say 'Dude, you're in the Hulla video!', so we'd go over to the booth where it was playing, and it'd ALWAYS be right at the part I was in.

It's kind of sad, but I never "went to" the first few years of Hulla parties. I was stuck by the front door all night and only went inside when it was my turn to DJ.
I had to do this because I had to keep an eye on everything. Only my time at the opera house was I able to hang out on stage and trust that the venue had my back and would deal with any problems. That's why it was always VERY unlikely I would leave the OH for our final party, why would I deprive myself of my last party just to sell some more tickets? |

I got pictures of gobbstopper taking video of the crowd, I thought that when moonshine released the H2BHC dvd it would have footage of Hulla, but alas I was fooled. But the dvd was still cool.
Group Hug - We decided to go to dayton ohio to a party called smile. I wish we would of drove the opposite direction cuz smile was good, but not hulla good. (Last time I let friends decide on were to go) All the Funtopias - some how some way something got screwed up and I couldnt manage to go........

it makes me really happy to say that i went to every single hulla that happened since i started raving.. but sadly that's only 5. my first rave was in august 2004, and drift on a dream was my second.. never missed a one.
so really i just have to kick myself for being a wimpy goody-two-shoes when i was younger, and not actually GOING to a rave when i first heard what they were. dammit!

My wife and I often kick ourselves for not attending more Hullas than we did. For me the list would include every Hulla from 97-99 except for the one I did attend (Return of the Vibe) simply because those were our prime partying years.
If I had to pick just one, it would definitely be "Something Good." |

All Good Things.
I was going to get the tickets online and drive up there with some friends from oklahoma... but I was 17 at the time and everyone backed out right before the tickets came out. It sucked... I'm still really pissed about it.

It was the first (only?) one that was at the Masonic Temple. I had the stupidest reason for not going - I was pissed at my friend. He ended up going and having an AMAZING time while I stayed at home like a total ass!

prolly Anthems.
there was a period of time where I didn't really come out of the house for anything except work.. I missed a few Hulla's in that time, and Anthems was one of them. Either way, I still remember (HA!) most (HA! again) of the ones in-between

I've only missed a few since I started going to Hullas...Turn Up The Music and Drift on a Dream, if memory serves. And the one two-three years ago that if I'm not mistaken also had Dougal. Can't remember the name. None really stand out though.
No what I wish I could have done, was not left Funtopia 7 or All Good Things early. That was just dumb. great now the name of that other one i missed is gonna bug me. time to brave the archives

^ yes, as long as you weren't paying $20 for a 4L jug of water.
I still am amazed at the "Hash House Sno Kones" ya.. i'd like a raspberry sno kone and 2 grams please. |

$20 for 4L of water = $2.50 for 500ml, that's DAMN economical!
The best part of the Hulla stage at wemf was that it was like an island of Hulla, seperate from the rest of the party. All the hulla folk would basically hang out there all weekend. That, and the fact that our stage kicked ass. We spared no expense and it was always one of the top stages. |

ya, but... think of it..
you buy those 4L (or was it 3L.. i dont remember) jugs for like $2.00 at the store. a regular 591ml bottle was like $5 1L was around $10 2L was around $15 and the 4L was around $20 i just remember my ass felt a little sore after that weekend. |

ha, well, notice my in my post. yeah, no kidding, it's highway robbery.
There ARE added costs with trucking that stuff up there, but I doubt that water was being storred in a reffer truck. probably just a u-haul. Funnily enough Ryan Kruger claims he's never made money off wemf ever . (hence not paying me). |

I didn't find out what Hulla was until H2BHHC chapter 5 that I bought randomly and found the music I was missing my whole life. And after reading about it for a few years, it was almost over. I got to AGT and everyday wish I could have been part of the entire experience.
PS I'd love to get my hands on all Hulla footage, willing to pay for shipping and blank media. I'd still love to edit something together with some motion graphics. |
