Thank you (aka silver1's retirement post)
Just wanted share some final thoughts with everyone as my last message as DJ silver1.
Over the years I have been very fortunate to have some wonderful people around me as I got into partying and then DJing. Firstly I want to thank my friend Adrian. This man was my party partner in crime from the beginning. He got me into going to raves, big and small way back when. I think the first one I ever went to was Citrus at the Science Center in 96. We got our infamous silver suits together. We were inseparable at parties. It was to the point that Robin Frolic flat out asked us once, "ok are you two gay"? Adrian was also with me when I decided to start DJing. He came with me to get my first set of crappy Turn Tables. He was with me when I bought my first records. If it wasn't for him, I probably wouldn't even be into electronic music. Cheers to you Adrian. Subsonic Pete. You've been a friend for so long now. You've always been there for me when I needed support the most. I even remember this vividly. Before my very first gig I got, even though you were spinning out of town, you called me up to wish me luck. You are amazing Pete. Cheers Bro. I also need to throw a huge Thank you to DJ Frisky. He supported me from the get go. Always gave me words of encouragement. Hooked me up with vinyl. He's always treated me with utmost kindness. He was virtually my DJ mentor when starting out. I will never forget the help you gave me back when I could barely even beat match. Donny, you are a riot. I could always expect a tackle hug at every Hulla from you with a swift dose of your whacky (or should I say drunk ) behvior. Thanks for the laughs and fun times. To all the DJs and MCs I've had the honour to work with. ED, Wolf, Gobstobber, Kwik, E By Gum, Psyclone, Tyco, Scoots, Jumper, Kriztian, Swiss.......... shit I know there's more........ 725 am right after hulla. Brain isn't back to full capacity. If I forgot anyone I'm truely sorry. Thanks guys. It's been a blast. To all the partiers that supported me. For the kinds words for my sets and mixes, even if sometimes they were less than stellar. You guys are truely the best. You are the ones that made me love DJing. You are the ones I got to share my favourites tracks with and my best party experiences. Without you guys I would just have been a dude mixing records to myself. Thanks again for the tremendous support over the years. Frolic. Shit where do I start. The support you've given me is more than I could have ever dreamed of. You were my DJ idol before I got into DJing and it's one of your mix tapes that inspired me to get into the while DJing thing. You know which tape I'm talking about and I know you didn't think much of it, but dude let me tell you. I wore the shit out of that tape. Then you decided to take a chance on me by booking me for Oh Crikey and figured it would be a good idea to just post the lineup and let it be a suprise. And boy was it ever you 'magnificent bastard'. Since then, you booked me for more hullas, made me a resident, but ultimately what I'm thankful for more than all of that is the friendship we've made with one another. You are the greatest man. To my wife who's always supported me and been there for me. I love you more than anything. Thank you for making all these years of DJing more enjoyable by sharing the joys with me. My DJing is over. But knowing you'll be with me every day continuing to make me the happiest guy in the world takes the sting out of hanging up the headphones. *muah* So another chapter in my life is coming to a close. I feel lucky to have been able to live out a dream that started in 1998. Thanks again everyone. Untill we meet again. Tommy K. a.k.a. silver1

Thanks so much for all the memories. The first time I saw you was at Rush Hour, dancing on the catwalk with Silver2... and though we never really got to know each other until a few years later, we always seemed to bump in to each other at parties. MCing for you & Wolf's back to back set at 'Oh Canada, Continued' was a bit of an omen, as you guys became two regular fixtures in my raving weekends over the years.
I'm glad that I had the chance to work with you, to party with you, to become your friend, and to experience the happy vibes you brought to the decks every single time you played. You'll be missed, dawg. MCED |

It has always been a pleasure experiencing your sets, Tommy. The times we have had to work together, from the almost unmentionable Stardust, to the 'dodgy' backyard party, to the Hullabaloo Funtopia stage... were all memorable, and all have their own unique story. I remember your encouragement and inspirational chat after one of the Happy Hour appearances, and the laughs shared during the 'waiting period' of the imfamous WEMF 2001. I'll always think of the conceptual "Metallic Man backed up to the Anime Wolf" mixtape artwork that you had envisioned and smile whenever any of these memories pops into mind. Thanks Tommy... you've set a standard that may never be matched in Toronto history.
KUDOS and massive respect. |

You'll be missed, Tommy. There have been times when I know you've played tracks just for me - particular favorites that don't get played often - and I always appreciated that. I'm glad you were a part of all this.

tommy tommy tommy....
I just have to say congrats. You deserve every second of your glorious set last night (okay maybe 2 nights ago...) especially Doctorin' the tardis. I've loved every second of our friendship: from our first meeting at Nightmare Hallowe'en back in 1998, Red Alert, Hullabaloo7-> through 15, and 41??? ( I think), All the EBF's, all the times at golden griddle. All those glorious hours playing Heroes in the apartment we shared. I miss you guy, I sometimes wish we still lived inthat place, with the tables in the loft, me spinning butter trance, pulling out Boney M records, you playing nintendo ... good times. Anyways, I just wanted to say I had a wonderous time, it was just like old times, I'm glad I can call you friend. And I hope we can always get together to play heroes, or just shoot the shit. gollum |

Tommy,
For years I felt like you and Frolic were close friends, just from hearing you every week on Happy Hour, so it was great to actually hang out with you guys at Wonderland. Thanks for all the great sets at Hulla and the time you put into Happy Hour. You were an awesome DJ and great person and I'll miss you. Baron |

silver1,
would just like to say that my first hulla was Lost In Space, though i was wanting to go for years and never made it i walked in to LIS and you were spinning, i couldn't get off the floor, it was a start to an amazing night and i was stoked to know that i was going to be able to see your final set. Amazing night, incredible set, and a hell of a run. Congrats with everything, wish i could have met you, you were a great dj
