I hope i have no trouble crossing this time. LAst time it went so easy I was wered out by it The guy was so nice and basically only asked liek three questions. Coming back in was even eiser all they asked me was where I was from I didn't even need to show any ID even though I was trying to hand it to the guy.
Just worried cause I got pulled over like last month and harrassed about if I had drugs in the car. |

Call the 1-800 # I gave on the first page - that might be able to give you a more positive answer about your probation

Isn't it true that if you have any kind of DUI or DWI charges on your driving record from any time period that they won't let you into Canada?

with a dui and dwi EVER you cannot drive yourself into canada, you can fly without paying a fee, but if you drive over the border you will have to pay like 300 dollars to get into the country...of course that is all dependant on if your ID gets checked but most the time they do check...

Carrie, do you know if that is just if you are the driver? We might be going up with someone who had a DUI a long while back but they won't be driving.

I don't blame Canada. I'm so anti-DUI/DWI that if I where a lawmaker it would be alot worse than that.

How is the customs/immigration through an airport. This is gonna be the first time I'm flying to Canada. I've got the car/bus thing down to a science, but I've never been through a Canadian airport.
Thanks |

I would suggest you bring a passport plus other important ID just in case you are asked for other ID. The Canada Customs people are not bad at all.

sometimes they ask who is picking you up or how you are getting to where you are going how you know the people picking you up and things like that....how you are getting back to the airport and when you are going home..and also of course the same things they ask you about your stay as they ask when you are driving |

i just talked to my dad about the dwi thing..his dwi was a LONG time ago..when he was about our age. He went to canada on a family fishing trip last summer and got stopped at the border. They told him that you need to fill out the papers and pay a fee BEFORE you even try to go to canada...even then they CAN turn you away....he DID get allowed into the country by paying 200 dollars cash on the spot..but he wouldnt suggest trying to get away with that...

me and a friend of mine went to toronto for NYE 2001 had no problem getting in, all we needed was our drivers licences, getting back was the hard part. i didnt have my id out and ready when we pulled up to the booth but once i found it and gave it to them it only took an extra 15 mins for us 2b on our way, of course this is AFTER they searched our car

We just came up in Feb for Pacific Sun,
from detroit into windsor: no ID check, three questions from windsor into detroit: no ID check, four questions I've been accross a few times before and usually have to show ID and state origin of birth... only searched once, one of the "random" searches... all in all the crossings have been easy going just don't bring anything illegal! |

This might with the with the kandy situation. I Remeber crossing the border going to Stay here Forever. We had to go to imagration. Because the driver had to look for there ID. And there were a line of cars behind us, So they made us go over to imagration. They searched the cars and found TONS of kandy, Not just already made kandy. Single beads and string also. They asked what why we had all the crafts. (Probally trying to trick us) We just said we brought them to make on the ride up since it was a long drive. They let us go ahead threw though.
I just mentioned this because if your gonna bring kandy. Maybe bring some extra beads and string to say the same thing if your searched. I was kind of suprised they didn't do more then they did being there was 4 kidz in the back seat. But besides that everything was all good.

Just be polite. Yes sir, no sir, yes ma'am, no ma'am.
We were pulled for a random "search" crossing over for Pacific Sun. We just kept our cool as the customs officials badgered us, apparently thinking "if they are guilty they will get nervous and spill it", he looked through the car, didn't even move anything, and passed us through. He had to have seen the candy, the bags it was in were on top and were mostly plastic shopping bags. The line we used, and I've used each time crossing for hulla "going to see a show at the opera house in toronto" "anabolic frolic" if they ask who's playing. It's accurate, so they can't catch you in a lie no matter what they do, but it doesn't immediately bring in the stigma of "rave". |

bringing beads across the boarder isn't against any laws. chances are they knew you were going to a rave, or assumed something of the sort. it's not illegal to do that... just when you mention the word 'rave', it flags drugs to many people still.. it's a bad stereotype, mainly due to the media and whatnot... as long as you are polite, and they have no suspicion of drugs or illegal substances crossing, you are prettymuch ok
