Time & Money, ran out of both and was focused on All Good Things which was a lot of work. This project will happen though as it's part of my leaving a lasting legacy.

book is still on, documentary is still on.
With Hulla out of my main focus I've had to put my attention on my new career since that's what's paying the bills these days. I've had some thoughts about the documentary though. originally it was just going to feature one particular party (funtopia 7) as a little slice of what Hulla was. Now since it's over I'll probably expand the scope to everything. I've got tons and tons of footage from all parts of the Hulla era. And on top of the party footage there's all the interviews that were taken with Hulla Ravers at funtopia 7. So I think it can be a really kickass retrospective. Maybe I should find some film student or something who needs a kickass project to get an A . |

You all remember when MTV did that "Wanna Be a VJ" show a few years back? Contestants from across the nation competed, American Idol style, to become the newest MTV VJ.
Anyway, in the 2nd or 3rd installment (early 2000), one of the finalists was a raver from Fort Collins, CO. I was a college freshman in Fort Collins at the time so my friends and I all watched the final week of the show in my dorm. The finalists were on TRL and Carson Daly was kind of interviewing them. He asked the raver kid what music he was currently listening to and he said something like "I'm really digging what Anabolic Frolic is doing right now with the Happy 2B Hardcore series. They're a lot of fun." You could tell Carson Daly had no idea what he was talking about; he just said "right on" and changed the subject. All my friends were like "Holy shit, he just metioned H2BH!" Anybody else see or remember that? I thought it was pretty cool. The only time I'd seen Anabolic mentioned in the mainstream. Getting to my point. It would be awesome if someone could get a hold of that show and throw it into the Documentary. It would only be a 20 sec bit, but could go in with people talking about how popular Hulla was getting. |

^^^ i think that is a GREAT idea... and i'd personally like to see it..
on a side note... if you look up hullabaloo in Wickedpedia... it actually lists " the rave promotion started by dj Anabolic Frolic" as a definition for hullabaloo... and even goes on to talk about how it is referred to as 'hulla' i found that to be really cool... |

By the way,
The raver kid won. He was never really on MTV after that, though. I think I saw him twice, and that was introducing nobody bands at Spring Break. Kind of like how you never see the people who win "Dream Job" on ESPN after they win. Last edited by shadowmanvurt : February 13th, 2006 at 10:57 PM. |

yeah, that kid on MTV was a huge fan. During the interview process he mentioned me a few times. One was a question about what CD would he want on a deserted island, the other about the most influential musical something or other 50 years from now.
I never saw the Carson Daly bit, but heard about it. |

Hmmm, I never heard about or saw his initial interview questions. Those would be cool to see on the doc. as well, but I'm sure getting MTV to allow use of their footage would be a huge and exspensive hassel.

I do freelance video editing and graphics at an ad agency, but I would take on that project for free. Getting a chance to work on something that big would be mind blowing. If you would like samples of my past work just let me know. |

Thanks for the offer.
Obviously some serious work has to be done before it's even at the video editing phase. I have to catalog all my footage and try and figure out a good story to tell. |
