No one likes breaks, you must have missed the memo.

my guess is that they decided to focus the sound towards what the typical hulla-goer is perceived to enjoy.

Breaks are for kids

Rush Hour and ED were 2-3 room parties. There was hard house, techno, all knidsof stuff. But with a one room party, it takes down the amount of set syou can throw in. Since there is already jungle, the breaks get aex.

We had dropped breaks even before we gave up the 2 room venues. But ultimately you're talking about something that happened 7 years ago.

For the record, I am pro-breaks, especially funky breaks. However one simply can not expect to hear all their favourite genres (or similarly songs) at every party they go to.

As I hear it, there was a time when you could expect to find a bit of everything at a given party, but that has not been the reality in my short time. Choose what you want to hear, then find the appropriate party.

That's the thing. I decided it's a mistake to be all things to all people and instead focus on what we do best. There are other parties that would be of far more interest to some people than ours instead of pretending we're for everybody.

When you hear people refer to the oldschool days when everyone enjoyed different music together, you have to remember that the musical genres weren't anywhere near as fragmented as they are now. Even in the subgenre of "uk hardcore" these days you have way more styles than can be featured (or should be featured) at a single party.

I dont think so, it brings a mix of people and a mix of area's depending on your mood, not that no matter what mood your in happyhardcore isn't good. But you don't know when you buy the ticket what mood you will be in. thats my opinion

i would never want to listen to house/techno/trance or any of that crap..thus the reason i hate parties that have all of that stuff at it...which is what we have here..every party is a hodge podge of music..and the people all being together doesnt work well..when liking hhc is considered the ulitimate rave sin...

I would think (hope) that if someone bought a ticket for a U2 concert they'd be in the mood for some U2 songs that night.

the differences is..i like the people....just not the music...i dont hear the word trance and think ALL people who like it are stupid...unlike the people around here who hear happy hardcore and think all the people who listen to it are stupid immuature kids...

minneapolis DOES have me a little jaded..i will admit that....but...i was just saying that i would not attend a party that was all house/trance/techno...and thats usually what parties are here..they throw in dj spree and i go..but i get very frustrated when i go to a party and 8 out of 9 hours of music is not my style

i like trance...

in fact i like most electronic music even house( a lil bit goes a long way for that one.)
but i dig some hard trance
and d&b and jungle.
I wish we had parties here that were that all encompassing....
(thinks to himself... maybe i can change that...)

to add to/elaborate on that for those who might not understand... the reason parties are like that here is because we HAVE to have just about every style of music at a party to get enough bodies in the door. cause if someone threw just a hardcore party... there'd be like 50 people there, no matter how good it was. around here you have to have good djs from a number of genres to get enough kids to come out. toronto kids don't have a CLUE how good they have it, being able to have a 'hardcore scene' AND a 'jungle scene' AND so on and so on. *jealous*

heh and people wonder why we travel so far for parties...
