Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, that was some yummy lighting. I didn't get to see it through the night, but during the last set in the main room, it was just fabulous. BTW that was the party with the circular truss, right? Only time I've seen that, very kewl. Due to the smaller venue, it might be difficult to match the magnitude and complexity of the lighting at Foreverland, but I get the impression they're gonna try to exceed it one way or another.

just for clarification; there are no more surprises than listed on the flyer. It's all there. This thread was started before any of that info was released and I made mention of a surprise I was working on, which happens to be the scrapbook. I think that happened to be a huge and well received surprise. Hulla has built it's reputation on following through with everything we ever promised and it will annoy me greatly if I read comments afterwards that people were disappointed just because they heard rumours that oakenfold was supposed to be there or something and were disappointed it didn't happen. We've got 5 months to go here people, so I'm just nipping this in the bud.
As for the lighting, it will be different than the Foreverland setup, but I think this will be our most impressive setup in our history. All our original sound & lighting techs from Hulla's "golden age" are back for one last night to make it everything it can be. This will also be the last rave ever at the opera house and they've been working with me to make sure I'm happy. |

Do you think many people would really be disappointed if the World's Greatest Ego wasn't there? (Although it'd kinda be kewl to see him in the crowd partyin' it up to some hardcore )

and on a derailing topic, Hi Jesse . Long time no see.
DNE Productions above was at the very first Hulla. I will always remember him because he didn't look like a raver and I can remember thinking "what's this rocker dude doing here?" hahaha. Jesse later DJ'd our "Mermaid Lagoon" chillout tent at Foreverland, something like a 10 hour set if I remember. You can see "DNE Productions" listed there on the flyer. |

yeah, i picked up on that. it was a joke, hence the
but then i realized that someone on this board probably does like oakenfold and to avoid message board conflict i added the disclaimer. back on topic, i predict a one armed little person will streak through the crowd in the middle of frolics set. |

Nah, it was only 9.5 hours. Still my longest set so far though. But now that I'm getting into live PA (got all the equipment I need except protective cases for stuff, just need to program it all and stuff), I can go much longer.
But it's true. I've never looked much like a raver. I used to be into deathmetal, still listen to it occasionally, and I still look more like a metalhead than a raver (then again, some of the dnb I spin is not far off from deathmetal (http://www.dneaudio.com/demonseedevilstep1.m3u). Could easily see that first track being played with guitars and stuff. Still, I'm totally dedicated to rave, as a partier, DJ, live PA, producer/artist, record collector, talent promoter, and record label. At the stroke of 5 AM, a 30 foot high red curtain previously covering an object that had been hidden will fall down to reveal a massive video wall. The entire club goes silent as the face of MC E-By-Gum appears on the screen to tell everyone that he will be MCing live, via satellite, from Tokyo over top of the final hour.
5:30 AM reveals another video wall, this time with Chris Sheppard on it DJing live via satellite from an unknown warehouse in North York. Frolic and Sheppard do a versus set (Frolic playing happy hardcore, Sheppard playing remixed '80s Duran Duran tracks) with E-By-Gum chanting over the action. Word from the grape vine rumour says this will all happen. I will be the one dancing at 180 bpm to Hungry like the Wolf. |
