As someone who got hit with a $10,000 fine for not having enough fire exits (in addition to $10,000 lawyer fees for my defence in that case), the days of non-club venues are long gone.

The phrases "all night" and "all ages" are enough to scare off like 75% of venue owners. Clubs are much more willing to take that plunge than other types of venues, because they have experience with similar events. I totally made up that statistic, by the way.

what jER said
i dont just prefer it to be "ravey" i see them as two entirely different kinds of events, one which im madly in love with and one which happens to have cool people and techno so it works ok

I guess my philosophy is different, since when/where I started partying the only real difference between clubs and raves was the legality, the hours, and the alcohol. The music, the people, and the architecture was largely the same.

the music and the people are the same but the architecture definitely aint
if im standing in a room where the ceillings are only as high as if it was inside my house, it does wreck the sound and it most definitely wrecks my ears techno needs space which is why i like the opera house and hate pulse and turbo |

a field = a heatstroke
unless its windy in which case a field = a whole bunch of chapped lips (im sure most of you know what im bitching about ) i prefer actual nature and in ontario that doesn't mean fields its means forest and techno sounds goooood in the woods |

thats cool i would think it would help to have so kind of walls to enclose the sound at least a bit plus at outdoor events soundsclash and the speakers bleed into each other unless the campgrounds are spread out far. plus what about the graff artists? for them its like this. no walls, no show. whats better than having an underground rave and having dope writers bomb the place propper with beautiful graffiti. the woods are ok . but dont be too afriad to find a remote location like a factory to have ur party at/in. underground parties are good for the promoters too cuz they get a free location and there s no closing time somebody mention 3 days! word the fuck up 2 that! |

what we need somewhere is a venue like the asylum in springfield, mas (RIP). this place was a night club techincally...but the main room had huge ceilings probably like 20 or more feet tall a side room with hardcore, a back room with dnb and a upstairs room with whatever....very uneffective searchs and brought enough people to bring in crazy lineups now there wasnt too much hardcore there but there was some...frolic knows what im talking about he spun there last year for halloween but then a new mayor came to town and they got caught with fire code issues and the mayor revoked their permits and said he would never allow anything like that again in springfield...oh how i miss the asylum....every few weeks on a sat nite was a new party a big party and most of the time the djs showed up and it didnt get shut down early something thats a rariety in new england/nyc nowadays.....

Vancouver has a small, but quite strong eclectic hardcore scene. It's not much about happy hardcore, apart from DJ Arius, but more about noisecore, speedcore, deathcore, and other more abrasive forms of hardcore. Several wikkid artists, DJs and promoters involved, often doing free parties out in the bush. I spun at one of them a coupla years back and had a blast. Amazing venue near Whistler BC, great people, the sound and mixing was kinda shit cuz the monitors blew during the first set (I played the second set), and just an amazing party.
