What ever happened to the Newz? As much as I hated that place (flooding toilets and no cold tap water) That place was the shizzat. Outside in the chill tent getting the shit scared out of you while planes flew overhead landing at pearson. Not fun when sketchy.
I guess its a 19+ gino club now? Maybe its not even there. I dont want to party like its 1999. I want to party like its 1998. P.S. Mazzy.... LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!

walking out of that place, umm.... happy... getting ready for the six hour drive home with planes flying overhead in a gray toronto morning... staring at the highway...

I drove by, the Newz has been demolished. See also my above comment about dealing with mafioso owner types. They also never refunded my $3000 damage deposit the last time we were there (on top of the $17000 rental). Plus the manager threatened to have the cops shut me down if his people couldn't run the coatcheck, which then they abandoned during the night and Silver1 and Jellybean gave everyone their coats in the morning. fun times. |

A one room Hulla would still be an end to the legacy, but not the best end.
If that's all there is, then that's all there is, and it will still be spectacular. MCED |

Ya. It was no biggie. I happened to be at coat check getting my jacked and noticed no one was there. There was a bunch of people standing around looking confused with their coat check tickets so I just said, "screw this" and hopped the counter and grabbed my coat. When I turned around the bunch of people were holding out their tickets to me saying, "I don't want to get in trouble going back there. Can you grab my jacket for me"? |

That place I guarentee was very very very expensive. Plus frolic would need to run shuttle busses because I am sure people would have problems getting from the city to Mississauga. That place was a terrible venue for sound.... too big. |

The police won't allow "rave" events anywhere in Mississauga (Peel region) anymore. So no international centre. That was an awesome venue, and if I could have at the time I would have signed an exclusive deal with them. So many options there.
Anyone remember how the Peel Police screwed the last liquid adrenaline party that was supposed to be at wild water kingdom, even if it ended at 2am? Trust me, if there's a venue that's ever been used in the entire history of raving but is not used any more, there's a reason. |

i vote for the 160
i too would love to see one big massive send off.. although i do completely understand the logistics behind it... sure.. everyone and their mom is saying they're going to come.. but lets say average attendance now is 750-850.. with the added people, what would it be? 1500? 2000? 2500? i doubt that there would be more than 1500 people show up.. 2000 would be totally pushing it. there's really no current venues to accomodate such a crowd that will allow raves. Opera house is as big as they get pretty much without going to a convention center sure... he could open it up big like that, but for what? an increadibly risky business descision that is almost guarenteed to loose a lot of money. in the time ive known Chris and Hullabaloo, i am sure, without any doubt that for this last send off, he'd go for the best and most suitable venue to accomodate all that wanted to come, as long as he didnt loose the shirt off his back at the end of it all.. He'd get the convention center if he knew he could fill it... but the reality of it all is that he cant.. nobody can these days. Ticket prices would be astronomical and it wouldnt be everything it could be. It's not about making an assload of money at the last party for him... he'd even take a loss (as he's done so many times int he past), but he has to think about his real life outside of Hullabaloo... Robin, Gavin, making rent, and putting food in their tummies. Let's face it.. none of us would put our houses, cars, and families lives in jepordy for a rave... so why are we asking him to?

It may be because I'm too new to remember any of the older venues, but I for one have a lot of positive memories of the Opera House, and if Security is willing to back off a bit about having people in the lobby, washrooms, and upstairs "chill rooms" there should be plenty of room... it'll be packed, and hot and sweaty, and you'll barely be able to move, but come on... that's fun.
All of you who have contacted me have been added to a database of names and drivers... For those who aren't near any large caravans, I am willing to help you work out the Greyhound bus system to get to a nearby city that DOES have a caravan. These cities include St Louis, Detroit, Buffalo, Rochester, and Philly. I'm unfortunately not TOO familiar with US Geography outside of the North East, so if you need a ride please identify major cities within 2 or 3 hours of you so I can see about linking you up with those caravans. Greyhound is NOT hard to work, it's inexpensive, and most of all it's WELL WORTH IT. I cannot stress enough. |

ALSO!!! Tickets for the final Hulla go on sale on Feb 15th. DO NOT DESPAIR if you are unable to get a ticket for this last Hulla!!! I encourage you all to try, use the Hullastore here if you are too far to get to Toronto to purchase one (you will need paypal or a debit/credit card, but if you don't have one of those, ask your friends and relatives or even open a checking account at least 30 days before then), but by the simple nature of supply and demand we won't all get one. That's ok! They go on sale well before the April Hullabaloo, which means you'll still get a chance to attend a Hullabaloo. After Feb, I'll bifurcate the caravan list and any of you that wish to attend April instead of July will simply need to indicate that preference to me at that time... I will do my best to make sure you all still get linked up as close as possible. Don't bother telling me now if you're doing April instead of July, as you'll just have to tell me again come Feb 15th.
Once again, bring newbies, bring friends, talk to ravers on here and other messageboards... spread the word! The more the merrier and if you are a Happy Hardcore raver, there's no reason for you to have to HEAR about Hullabaloo when you can BE a part of it. I WILL see you all there. |

I myself will try and purcahse as many tickets as I can, and help those out who could not order one. If you could not get a ticket, contact me. I will not be making any money off of this deal. It will be a first come first serve thing. I hope all of you can attend this event!
Tim, get ahold of me |
