I'm sure we'll see Gobstoppa at Hulla again.

hopefully, he is one of the best hardcore MCs. but until then, if you're not gonna bring him back, at least bring in some other excellent MCs, such as Hi-IQ or enD. |

Chris had to keep his word. Gobstopper knew the consequences. It was not a threat, it was a statement. If he gave up WEMF, it would be made up to him as best as possible. If he didn't give up WEMF, he would not be allowed to play at Hulla, where every other DJ had done so. Would you rather Frolic not follow through on his word, and act a lot more like Destiny or Nightmare? He said what he was going to do, and Gobstopper chose to ignore it. If he honestly thought that he wouldn't get shit listed for it, then he's pretty cocky. PLUR, Chip

eh.
I couldn't say that I really cared about all this nonsense. Honestly it makes no difference in my life whatsoever. I was just stating my opinion on the issue. In the end, it's all rave, which means none of it will ever matter.

I think Frolics 'explaination' was more classic passive aggressive Frolic crap. Its a punishment, plain and simple. Im not decided on whether or not I think its a warranted punishment, but thats not my buiseness really.
I think the timeline is the important part. If Pete had already accepted the gig before Frolic asked him to turn it down, then Frolic is in the wrong I would say. There is also AC Slaters point about people maybe seeing Pete and deciding to come to Hulla because they like him. Pete is what got me hooked on live hardcore, leading to me getting into hardcore all together. So there ya go Frolic, you need to pay the bills? Youve gotten about 200 dollars outta me and I got ALOT of other people into attending Hullabaloo, and its all because of Pete. Me and my people wont be attending this time. Im not too keen on the headliner to begin with, but the headline sets are always good because the energy in the room is hot, but without the proper MC convincing everyone theyre having a good time, whether or not they actually are, that energy just wont be there. Good luck Everybodys Daddy. Im sure you'll do great. Last edited by ElJCA : August 8th, 2004 at 08:51 PM. |

I'm not worried, this will just let ED prove that he is the #1 MC, cuz it seems like people aren't in the know, ya know?
I already know.....do you? |

The situation was well known (and discussed within the community) for months before the WEMF lineup was even booked and from what's been reported to me the people from Destiny would even tell the talent themselves about the situation when booking them (in the context of "We hear Frolic says this..." and as a matter of fact that's how Elixir even first heard about it (from destiny)). DJ Brisk even emailed me letting me know he wasn't playing for them. The original intention was that a show of unity from the hardcore community might force Destiny's hand to pay me rather than give up the lucrative market. After all these years and countless bookings and breaks I've given all kinds of talent here, I really had hoped I would have their support.
Outerspace in particular was ground zero for the latest in what was going on as I talked with James regularly and we'd chat about all the latest in the drama and word would spread from there. At Sail Away Pete spoke with me about how weak the wemf lineup was looking. Most of the talent couldn't care less anymore to play wemf since they know it's not what it used to be and for most is more trouble that it's worth. Wemf was once a great showcase for hardcore when the Hulla stage was arguably the greatest one of the event, but now is just a 3rd rate room with little production value. Some DJs contacted me to let me know I had their support, others I hadn't heard from and it wasn't until the wemf flyer hit the streets in May did I know who exactly was and wasn't there but after that flyer was out I didn't have anything more to say to anyone since it was done at that point. Like I said, I'm not mad and no one is banned, but as is apparent with the wemf lineup, a lot did give up the booking and I knew right from the beginning when this was all started I had to follow it up or it would make people feel used. Would I prefer to have Pete on the lineup? Of course, but I feel more obligation to those who supported me to not just say "thanks, but it really didn't matter in the end". Historically our Fall parties have been the biggest of the year and it'll be a rockin' night no matter what. Last September was a complete sell-out which happened to follow up on our most poorly attended Hulla ever. |

Let me get this right, dj Brisk told them to buzz off but Pete a local Mc didn't... hmmm... lol... Frolic sticked to his guns like a man and Pete should live up to the consequances of his actions... What did you think Frolic would do? Seriously, stop bitching, if you don't like the situation then don't come, but this is truly between Frolic and Pete...

If my comments were taken as bitching I understand. I poorly stated most of it. It seems that Pete was told before the booking was accepted. Its his fault then .I just hate to see that he wont be there.

That was basically what was being said through the whole thread. You started bitching about Frolic's behaviour, before - as everyone can now see - even bothering to read what he had to say. :P
If the Hullabaloo parties are still around, it's obvious he's not making stupid decisions like you admit you thought he was. If he was just going to start randomly not booking people for his party, because they cooperated with his "arch enemies" then I don't think he'd still be promoting. No one would want to spin for him. He warned, there was no attention paid to his warnings... so he kept his word. :P PLUR, Chip |
