Glad he's not banned. Sad he's not there. Most hardcore MCs around these parts suck, and that's a fact. But you gotta put something over the music to distinguish one dj mixing 24/7 into heartbeatz from five other djs mixing 24/7 into heartbeatz or else the partiers are gonna freak out and think they're stuck in a time warp or something.
BTW, I wouldn't really mind being stuck in a time warp at hulla, in case anyone can do that up for me.

Any MC that gets on stage and busts
a rhyme on the spot, has talent. But I personally dislike Mc-ing to any hardcore beat. Just take out that record and start spinning |

Don't be silly. The patrons are the voice of Hulla. Everything good we do before, after and during the party reflects on the Hullas as a whole... everything bad we do before, after and during the party also reflects on it... these other people you speak of are performers at Hulla.

It is def. fucked up how Nightmare (or possibly Destiny) approached a few hulla regulars, and pretty much tried to "buy" them. Due to certain issues, I myself do not like Destiny or Nightmare.

It wouldn't be above them; tripling ticket prices @ door, doing sketchy things to promote their parties and taking advantage of party kids, they are guilty of doing all that. f them.... I'll never forgive them for runing my NY, and when I gave their parties a second chance, they blew it.
But I moved on, and just don't go to their parites, no matter who is playing them. Last edited by astralkid : August 6th, 2004 at 07:06 PM. |

Pete is a wicked MC, and I think the best as far as North American hardcore goes. To punish him for taking a gig is pretty pointless I guess. Who really gains anything from that happening?
Quote:
Also booking people because they do you a favor and boycot someone seems pretty backwards too. In the end, forbidding Pete to play at WEMF is just hurting Hulla anyway. Where do you think the new ravers/customers come from? Hulla is an all hardcore event, you don't get new hardcore fans that way. WEMF is all genres of dance music, if someone wanders into the hardcore tent and hears Pete MCing and they really enjoy it, thats good for Hulla. Anything that is good for the hardcore scene in Toronto is beneficial for Hulla as well.

Hmm...thats not necessarily true. Who actually said that Chris was punishing him? Did those words come out of his mouth?

Chris said he was just keeping his word. If he didn't do that, he'd look like a fool. Don't bash Chris. All he did was exactly what he said he'd do. Pete's the one that ignored him!! Not to bash Pete or anything, but it is totally his fault that he's not performing at Hulla. He was warned... he ignored.

I just think its a little foolish to put a personal issue before business. I understand where Frolic's coming from, and I was in no way bashing him, but in my opinion, sometimes in order to suceed in a business, where your competitors WOULD go as far as to rip you off and run you out, you have to do some things that may go against your personal feelings and do whats good for business.

He was warned. How is that not a threat? And how is he not being punished? It seems to me that Frolic is putting Pete in a similiar situation to his own. Honestly, does anyone think he doesn't have his own bills to pay? Not only is he an excellent performer, but he's a regular person like everyone else. Frolic is pissed that he didn't get paid, so he's putting him and other performers out of a paying gig...... Does that not seem a little backwards to anyone? And besides all that, people obviously want to see him!

Well I guess it was more of an ultimatum, pretty much the same thing. But Pete made his choice so whatever. I just read the thread and decided to put my 2 cents in. Sometimes its good to see things from a different angle. When you are stuck right in the middle of something you can lose sight of certain aspects the situation. |
