Ya MDMA is made from a nice menagerie of chemicals. I dont beleive there are any chemicals used in the process of making MDMA which can actually be produced by a plant.

The only thing "natural" about MDMA is the feeling it produces. The release of serontonin (sp?) occurs everyday in our heads (anytime you feel "good" ie the very moment you realise you've won money). MDMA makes this occur A LOT all at once.

THC on the other hand does not stimulate a natural chemical process in your head, but merely slows down neural transmissions.

But stimumalating yer noggin aint somethin to do a lot ya hear?

Well, where to start. Ok, first, some precursors used in the manufactoring of MDMA.. examples include Eugenol, which is found in Cinnamomum zeylanicum (Cinnamon) and Myristica fragrans (Nutmeg), or Safrole, also found in Nutmeg and other plants. So yes, the basic materials needed to create MDMA come from natural sources.

Second, THC's effects on the brain. THC acts on receptors in a similar way to MDMA and most other psychoactive drugs, but it interacts with a different set of receptors than MDMA. THC acts on the receptors of the endocannabinoids. Two known endocannabinoid receptors are CB1 and CB2, which are found in the nervous system and the periphery nervous system, respectively. These cannabinoid receptors are found on neurons in many places in the brain including areas are involved in memory (the hippocampus), concentration (cerebral cortex), perception (sensory portions of the cerebral cortex) and movement (the cerebellum, substantia nigra, globus pallidus).

Also, some experiments have shown that THC can affect two other neurotransmitters: norepinephrine and dopamine.

Plus keep in mind that cannabis contains a large number of other chemicals, some of which are psychoactive in their own right.
