I tried reading Les Mis, but I just have never had time to finnish it, every few months I pick it up again... I have heard it is a much more enjoyable read if you can read it in french. Books I would recommend, some have already been mentioned
-1984, if you like that than also read... -Brave New World -The Chrysalids (Spelling?) read it for school, but actually enjoied it. -The Princess Bride, loved the movie, but the book is better. -Lord of the Rings trilogy and the Hobbit... Tolkein was a Genius. -Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance -Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, a trilogy in Five parts (can't remember the names of the individual books)... By Douglas Adams I also want to read The Long Dark Tea Time of the Soul by him, I haven't yet, but it's on my to do list. Also the book he was working on before he died: The Salmon of Doubt -Harry Potter... It may sound corny, but these books rock! It is so easy to fall into this world. -I am currently reading the Chronicles of Narnia... Very good as well, I am really quite enjoying them, I had them read to me as a kid, so reading them now is kind of like playing hide and seek with my mind. In case you haven't noticed a little bit of a theme, I do really like fantasy books. But I will read just about anything.

i read les mis my senior year in high school. it was MY decision, as we got to choose the book we wanted to do a report on.
1200 long boring pages. some of it droned on way too long. my favorite book: dave barry is not making this up, by dave barry.

Starship Troopers by Heinlein. Unlike the movie, the book is more involved with political and moral philosophies.
Neuromancer by Gibson Cryptonomicon by Neal Stephenson (its a hard read but definately worth it). Cheers, Jare Fox |

The Four Agreements by Luis Miguel Ruiz (I think?)
Any Dr Phil Book <- he kicks ass Guilty Pleasure; The Shopaholic books (Confessions of, Takes Manhattan, Ties the Knot) <- chick books... if you like sex in the city and bridget jones diary. Hegemony or Survival by Noam Chomsky <- brilliant man who knows his shit about the United States.

I have also read the Shopaholic series and found them to be an easy and entertaining read. I recently finished the newest one from Sophie Kinsella "Can You Keep A Secret", also very good.
I have started the "Left Behind" series, just to see what all the fuss is about. Not very well written, in my opinion, but interesting nonetheless. |
