J-a-d-e-d :(
This was my 6th hulla and about 3 years of partying. I never thought there would come a time when I would be saying this but that hulla just made me jaded. I think it was all the 12 year olds running around...or the girls wearing about no clothing at all. Or maybe it was the fact that 2 guys came up to me and were grinding on me. First off hardcore is not something you grind to, second off it was 100 degrees in the crowd and everyone is sweating profusely, so grinding doesn't seem very appealing. Maybe its because all the parties Ive gone to in the last year have been completely sober and now I realize how messed up other people are and how funny they seem to a completely sober person. The bad part is I used to be one of those people...handing out stickers, blowing bubbles, covered in kandi, chewing my face off in the corner somewhere...now thats what is making me jaded. I guess the only thing left for me is to become a junglist (haha). I really am not trying to offend anyone...I hope I don't cuz I have no right to say anything, cuz I used to be the same way...It's just I feel like parties aren't what the used to be...people are there for the wrong reasons, or maybe they have always been like that but Ive never been sober enough to realize it.
As for the music: I felt like the track selection was really great from everyone. Saiyan: Ive seen you spin a bunch of times now, and you never disappoint me. Favorite set would have to be D-minus...I somehow managed to find energy and dance through most of the set. Not a big fan of the trance but it was a much needed break from the hardkore. It still had me jammin out a little. I'm not really into jungle either, but I actually enjoyed that set and even managed to dance to it. Frolic, Frisky, Jarefox, Breeze, Silver 1, maximum respect to you all as well. Jumper (B-port alumni representing) always my favorite...Liked the little shout-out to your daughter. I think this is the first hulla I've been to that I felt like all the sets were absolutely amazing, can't wait to buy the recordings. I hope my jadedness passes over...cuz hullas used to be my favorite...I have the freakin logo tattooed on me, I still don't regret getting it...maybe I'm just getting too old for this kind of thing *sigh* |

OMFG. This was everything I hoped for and more. As a first Hulla for me I was blown away. I drove 4 hours from detroit to make it and got there at like 9:30. I was a bit timid at first cuz I have never been to a hulla b4 and I came solo and figured I wouldn't know anyone. I had heard that the Kandie scene was alive and kicking but I had no idea it was thriving so well. As an old Skool Kandie Kid I was stoked to see so many.
The Venue..... FLIPPIN AMAZING. I loved everything about it. The Stage the Lights Heck even the Security I thought was cool, Something I have never found here in the states. Music: Well it was one of the best selections I have heard in ages. I figured it would be HHC and that is what I live for. PPL: Well I met so many ppl and I can remember so few of their names, but I miss y'all already. It really is b/c of the PPL that this will in no way be my last Hulla. Overall: I am at a lost for words. I can't verbalize how much fun I had. my one regret is that I never put more effort in trying to get to a Hulla. I've been aware since 2000. What have I been missing!!!!!! Keep it real

well after getting searched and interogated at the border everything was good
not as packed as the last couple have been and i enjoyed the extra space to move around a bit. each time i hear saiyan spin i become more impressed. he always seems to know what tracks i want to hear. i went crazy when jarefox dropped the uncle fucker track , frisky was good as always. i enjoyed spinz set, i want more jungle at hulla and less trance. not that subsonic chronic was bad, it just slowed the pace down until d-minus brought it back up. Overall, an awesome party and i'd expect nothing less from hulla. btw...NO track should be played 4 times in one night. No excuse. |

Wow. I'd sat it edges out Enchanted, though not by much. Trip up was much nicer, and actually quicker than last time given the bus wasn't delayed by snow and crashes.
I can't remember for the life of me what track was playing as I walked in the door around 9:45... But I heard a lot of great stuff. "Outer Space" blew my mind... "now I'm left here all alone, a million miles away from home" couldn't help but think how ironic it was to hear those words at Hullabaloo. I was over 600 miles from my bed, but I was home... The remixes of "Torn" and "Uncle Fucker" were great. Sets of the night would have to go to Silver1 and Subsonic Chronic. Breeze was good, but didn't live up to the hype IMO. Frolic was good, but not at that level. D-Minus was *much* better than he was at Enchanted. I don't know if Enchanted was an off night or he's improved since then, but I enjoyed it immensely. I was intending to sit out Silver1's set so I could dance to the psy trance, but alas, Silver1 was just putting out too good a set to sit still too. I don't hear nearly enough psy trance in general, and to hear shit that good... insane. I was completely getting lost in a psychadelic wonderland(without the aid of drugs) during his set, until my knees started to give out on me, I'm not saying they were hurting, I mean I almost fell over because my knees couldn't hold me up anymore at least three times, then I finally let myself sit down. I <3 Subsonic Chronic! Sing alongs? That was fun! Frolic dancing at the front of the stage was great... shoutoutsI know I'm forgetting people, apologies) skittles- good to meet you, you are mad cool diane- good seeing you again jamgirl- I missed meeting you buy about five seconds, I was going down the stairs, you were going up, I heard you mention who you were just as you got behind me. |

Wow, I never knew the Opera House could have parties like that... it wasn't overcrowded, you actually had space to dance, the music and vibe was excellent. Hullabaloo is still going strong after all these years!

heh, if I was dealing and all they were doing was kicking me out I'd get the hell out of their peacefully before I had the cops called on me. Sure it would be frustrating, but better than the alternative.
