...but if you take glowsticks across the border they will consider them drug paraphernalia and strip-search you. Trust me, I got nailed once for a glowstick with a lollypop on the end.
Better to buy them once you get here.

Seriously...Don't Bring Drugs Anyway...I dunno If anyone already said this (I didn't finishing reading all the post cuz I'm super dislecsic therefore a really slow reader [it's OK don't cry]), but here on the eastcoast the "Rave" Word isn't used as much as it is up in Canadia or on the west Coast. Now adays The Word Rave has such a negitive conotation! I was in school in like 9th Grade and I told somone I was goin to a rave that weekend. And they said, "well, you won't be at school on monday." I was like yea I will. they said, "Well, I hear X makes you real hot so drink alot of water"...I already knew this, but he assumed I was into the Drugs. Which I'm not. I honestly believe some Drugs are not worth my time and to risky to do. Kinda Ironic I got into the Rave scene, but honestly Drugs aren't me and I have no problem saying that...It just breaks my heart to see the Rave scene in the U.S. imploding on itself because to many people are doing the drugs. Now adays I don't say I'm going to a Rave. I say I'm going to a Club event or party. Still, If I were at canadian boreder control I would say the whole concert thing Anbolic Frolic said to say. I've got introuble for leing before...Long Story... and I don't wanna get into anytrouble at all...I'm done with Drugs...I'm never doing them again, but for the people who do do the drugs...please be smart about what your doing! don't do anything stupid to get yourself and others in trouble!!

I had a VERY bad experience with the canadian border this past weekend trying to get up to toronto for the N2O tour and the goodfellaz party. Luckily we made it up still, just 24 hours later in a different car. So I'm writing this for all the people travelling from far away. DO NOT BRING BINKIES, EXCESSIVE CANDY, or ANYTHING THAT MAY MAKE THE BORDER THINK YOU ARE RAVERS. We had one binkie, that we always just brought and never used because it was given to my boy at his first party ever and had a whistle attached to it. They stopped us, probably because the border was slow and they had just sent another person over to the search place (it is random unless they suspect something... we were dressed normally and said we were going shopping and clubbing in toronto for the weekend like we usually do). So they open our trunk and ask us to sit down, and as I'm walking away they ask my boyfriend if we have anything to turn over or if we're gonna make them go through the annoying search (which of course we didn't have anything for em). So they search the car and find nothing, search us and ask all sorts of questions, straight up tell us we're going to toronto to do drugs and cause trouble, and then tell us the don't want our kind (ravers) in their country. Now when we asked questions, because they didn't even say anything about what paraphanalia they found (in the US a binkie is no longer considered drug related in a Supreme court ruling), the senior officer came out and told us we were gonna co-operate and if we asked any more questions we wouldn't be allowed in Canada again. I'm sharing this with you, because I'm sure even with just the candy bracelets they wouldn't have let us in. I'm recommending that you go to the rainbow bridge if you're coming through the niagara falls/buffalo area, as we have never had problems there, and leave most of your candy at home. (I know I feel weird without it, so I'd say a few bracelets is cool) It sucks because you then have none to trade, but in the end if the border can turn you away for simply liking electronic music and being classed as a raver, it's probably better to go simple across the border. All I can say now after that experience is thank god I still got to see Luna-C, and hopefully we'll be seeing brisk in July

yeah but if you lie and they pull you over and they find a flyer, or your rave gear they are gonna turn you around...
and they can ban you for lying baout where you are going... as long as you are as honest as possible and answer all their questions. and you aren't carrying drugs over the border you are fine... just BE LEGAL AND DO THINGS THE RIGHT WAY... Bucky and I go to Canda at least once a week...there is no reason for you to get in trouble if you aren't doing anything wrong

saying your clubbing isn't a lie as nearly all raves are held in clubs, and the first night we were going to a club. And when they opened the trunk and asked if we were going to a rave we said yes. Raves don't really happen anymore as a true "rave" is illegal, but electronic music events are still referred to as raves. I'm just trying to let people know that they can turn you away even if your honest and co-operative and not doing anything illegal.

I try to think out possible questioning ahead of time and have answers ready. It's best to stick by your guns... if you are going clubbing the first time they ask, you are going clubbing the 30th time they ask.
All the same, if they confront you about raving it's easy to panic and just say yes, so that's totally understandable. Sorry you had such a tough time... sometimes they are randomly jerks. I think 2CB may be on to something with reporting your case to the Star, though. I think there may very well be a violation of your rights above.

we're just gonna pirnt out a copy of the universal declaration of human rights to keep in the glove box and if the situation happens again we will have more documentation of what happened and then take action. This time they wouldn't answer questions and we weren't fully aware of our rights at the time of questioning. It'd be really nice if there were an american representative or something like that at the border so they can't harrass you. I just wanted to make people aware that the border can be such dicks even if you are fully cooperative and not doing anything illegal.

^^^^ RAINBOW BRIDGE IS NOT BETTER THAN LEWISTON.......we got totally fuct with at rainbow bridge...we were there for 2 hours last year.
we decided to go to the falls and what a mistake it was deciding to cross at that crossing. they were soo hostile and rude and insistent on us having drugs and they made us throw away brand new completely UNUSED glass bowls. no border crossing is better than another in reality, but the bigger the crossing the better your chances are of not having to be ass raped. the rainbow bridge has 2 lanes, not 10 or more. i don't recommend goin to that crossing. i have been to toronto 9 times since february of 2002 and i have only ever had problems coming back to the states at rainbow. and once into canada at lewiston. so yah. blase blase hoo hoo hoo...

I've never had trouble at rainbow or lewiston...really just the peace bridge guys have given us trouble...and that was they wanted to search our trunk on the way back into the states, but didn't say anything about our kandi and stuff all over the trunk...it just depends on who you get for a border guard and how seriously they take their job I think

just an fyi... even unused glass pipes cannot be transported across state lines in the US, so it doesn't suprise me that they wouldn't allow them to be brought into canada and/or back into the US. All smoke shops have to purchase them from glass blowers within the state.
and, I've never tried coming back into the states at the rainbow bridge...lewiston is the closest so that's where we've always gone, and never had problems getting home. |

If anyone wants to ask me at Hulla, I have a funny story about crossing back through the Kingston area from Woodstock '99.
Not suitable for the Hullaboard, though.

my roommate got nailed coming back in with me from mexico for a tiny marble pipe he bought there. it's drug paraphanalia and he had to sign a document saying that he was trying to smuggle it into the US... the sucky thing is like 5 people including him got stopped and they probably just gave the pipes back to the vendors...EVERYONE sold them.

dont test it ,the law ,and consistantcy are both irrelevant
they can and WILL do what they want, when they want, to whoever they want ,unless you have alot of money for international lawyers whether you like it or believe it is also irrelevant this is why cops (border guards included) are all assholes ,and should die terrible deaths
