has idance actually accomplished anything?
just curious
ive been reading the articles and all but has the city considered making changes and maybe thinking "you know what, maybe raves arent so bad after all" or did they just say "nice festival, now how can we come up with more funding for public transportation" just curious |
The city HAS decided that. And that's thanks to in no small part events like iDance which helped sway public opinion. Toronto is one of the safest places to throw a rave in all of Ontario.
The current state of the Toronto scene is a result of lack of available venues and a bad economic model that has made it impossible for promoters to continue throwing parties so most have hung it up. I don't think there's a promoter out there who would blame the city of Toronto for putting them out of business. |
Now its all down to if a company can afford a venue and massed amounts of officers :\

Yea, what happened? iDance was a huge thing, then after it happened I never heard about it again.

It's the lack of venues
The lack of venues is hurting the scene way more then the city.
Fact is most venues make more money running their own nights selling alcohol to 19+ crowds, rather than renting them out to promoters. The list of decent venues is shrinking by the day and any that are decent are way over used, so promoters don't get the crowds needed to make a profit. In turn promoters are forced to bring in bigger names to draw the crowds, which obviously increases the cost considerably! The saying used to be 'don't expect to make money throwing parties', now it seems to be 'expect a loss'! Venues where are you!!!!!!!!!! I beleive they are out there. We just have to look harder to find them. And forget about big parties, we have to take a step back and start rebuilding the scene, maybe start focusing on parties around the 1,000 people mark. Besides, 1,000 people are way easier to controll then 10,000 anyway, and it's safer! The quest for new venues continues, if you find one let me know! :spin: Jeff (sourkee productions) |

lol, that doesn't say much. there is like maybe five cities tops competing for this. safest in north america would have been much more powerful of a statement |
