The thing you wanted to do at Hulla but didn’t…

Ok… so have you ever thought of doing something at a Hulla that you never got around to doing?

I daydreamed of creating the Polluted Lake Ontario Fish Pond. See, it would be like those regular fish ponds you see at carnivals where you get a mystery prize, but this being the polluted fish pond, you’d get really fubar things like doll heads and slimy fish dipped in glowstic juice or neon ink.

I always wanted to stage dive.

Have skytracker lights in front of the venue to pump everyone up as they got close. (I did look into this)

mmm, that might be it. managed to do everything else.

Cazenovia has Cazenovia Lake ;) (that's where I grew up).

Onondaga Lake is more towards Syracuse, if not right in it if I remember right (in Onondaga county)

Caz lake is pretty nice, but there are zebra muscles and duck itch in there (eeewww)

neverlandgurl April 25th, 2006 12:32 AM

hehehe yes, Onondaga Lake is more Liverpool/Syracuse way. Caz is about a half hour away from Syracuse.

For me.. actually attend one ;)

three of my friends and i played this game at a party in ohio once.

we brought a roll of stickers, and split into two teams.... one took the upper half, and the other took the lower half, each team got 20 stickers. we gave ourselves 30 minutes to place them wherever, as long as they weren't hiding behind something. after that, we were given 30 more minutes to find eachothers stickers.

sounds cheesy, but it was actually pretty fun. only problem is, the opera house is disproportionate, so the idea never flew.

that, and the fact that i wouldn't want to have anyone peeling my crap off the wall if we were able to find any of them.

Sounds like a fun game, but it'd be too hard to pull off based upon the venue. I've never been to a venue where that game could be played. there are always too many people, or not enough places to hide the stickers. and if the stickers were in a visible location, then other ravers would find them and keep them for themselves

peachfuzz April 27th, 2006 11:59 AM

well, luckily.. in dayton there was a place called "the gym club". it was basically this full size basketball court with a basement that was just as big, even with a thousand people in the venue, it still was no where near packed.

we found some interesting places for those stickers... lol. it wasn't like they were big and flashy either, they were a little smaller than a fifty cent piece, plain white background, with a logo of an alien head with a "no" line through it. nobody wanted to steal them.. lol

One thing I used to do at parties was "Fishing for Ravers" I used to do this all the time at local parties, but never had a chance to do it at Hulla. But what I did was tie string to a glowstick and then toss it onto the dance floor and wait for all of the f*cked up kids to see it, then start yanking on the string and see everyone chase it. It was a hell of a time

kandeegirl2 June 30th, 2006 03:13 PM

actually hmm i dunno. i guess it would be to have been able to talk to more people.

I always wanted to stage dive too.

But I was always on early, so there was never enough people at the front to do it safely.

I almost did it at FITS during Scott Brown, but security was giving me dirty looks as I was handing off my wallet and keys, so I thought better of it.

okidam July 3rd, 2006 06:20 PM

whats a skytracker light? is it something that follows movement underneath it or something...?

ive always wanted to stay at the base of the stage, a whole party through, and just go nuts up there... but bathroom, water, socialization... it never worked out, and i spent way more time wandering around talking to people than staying up front and dancing my ass off... thats def a bit of a regret of mine XD id make my way up there, and stay up there for about a half a set at a time, and go wander off for the majority-rest of the party XD

DJ Tranzit July 3rd, 2006 06:49 PM

sky trackers are more or less equivilent to "batman" lights.
those huge ass lights they use at the openings of clubs/etc..
think of anything broadway.. those massive deals.

generally come in clusters of 4, and if i'm not mistaken, are about 1 billion candle power in strength.

they generally do a pre-determined pattern in the sky, which is visible for a good 20-30km (12-20 miles) in half decent weather.

I'll try and find a picture.

okidam July 3rd, 2006 07:36 PM

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, oki dok. gotchya XD

ya know, once, at the beginning of winter, when i was leaving work, it was SO cold outside, that all the moisture in the air froze, and was just kind of hanging in the are. you couldnt see it, except for that for every lighted post in the parking lot, there were rather strong beams of light going up from every light fixture like that... and it seemed like individual beams of sunlight (well, not THAT bright, but enough to where you'd notice in a second, looking a lot like the disney lights there, but amber colored) coming down only from the sky in the middle of the night. and being in the north west end of grand rapids at my work, off in the distance, i could see other light beams going into the sky. and off in the east distance there was some set of lights, and it looked like the aurorea borealis without the colors, it was like a descending chime that was cut up and down, and it was so dreamy.....

um yeah, sorry for the spontaneous story, and it kinda has nothing to do with what i wanted to do at hulla but didnt... but id forgotten bout it until i saw these pictures of these sky trackers ^_^

DJ Tranzit July 4th, 2006 08:17 PM

i've always wanted to rent some of those, and put them in some arbitrary place, where people would drive, then find absolutely nothing there.

what a cheese off factor

thumpdaddy! July 5th, 2006 11:22 PM

i always wanted to make it out of a hulla with at least 1 of my popples combs....

I don't know if there is anything i've always wanted to do...

Robin Frolic August 10th, 2007 12:14 PM

There's something I always wanted to do, but it's naughty and Frolic said no. And I can't disagree that it would be a bad idea to do in real life. But it would sure have been fun!

(I mean seriously, what's the point of having a DJ boyfriend/husband if you can never actually do anything dirty to them while they're DJing... but I digress.)
